Do You Think Silence Is More Powerful?

When I have been wronged by someone I have never been the type to get all emotional. I just cut that person out of my life with no explanation, take it as a lesson learned and move on. I watch a lot of my friends getting in to back and forths on social media and shouting matches on the phone, with the hopes that person will own up to their shit.

I don't know, but for me I feel like your silence speaks volumes. It let's the person know, you aint shit and I want nothing more to do with you and you are not worthy of my energy. How does RealJock feel about this? Do you think everything should be addressed?

To me it's definitely a feminine trait to feel the need to act out and give the other person a piece of your mind. I see it all the time with women friends, even when it's when they haven't been wronged. And they always do it when they've been wronged but saying something isn't going to change anything.

A perfect example was a bumper sticker I saw on a woman's car that said "Speak your mind, even when your voice shakes." Seems to me that when your voice is shaking you're obviously upset and it might be better to wait and think things through and be more coherent when you say something. But I'm not a woman.

I just feel that sometimes it's not worth your time. I don't think it's my job to teach adults how to treat people. I like to speak with my actions, not words. Toxic people rarely change anyway.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It's situational.

I don't think silence is more powerful, but it often makes more sense if you just want the person gone or you think trying to talk to them wouldn't accomplish anything positive. In any event, social media would seem to be the worse possible forum for talking over a disagree.

    Yup.

I usually write them a private note/mail telling them not to count on our friendship/relationship/business or whatever any more.

From then on, they are simply ignored.

It talks real volumes and more...

Well if they're toxic they'll never change. They may change for a little while but you can be sure that they'll go back to their old ways eventually.
