Why doesn't Romney just forget about it. He is no match for the Donald. icon_cool.gif

Didn't he say in response to questions after his tirade last week that he had no intention of running?

Nevertheless, he's a loser. If he runs, he will lose, and help destroy the GOP in the process.

    Go Mitt!

My guess is that he would try to get enough of the vote so no one could get the nomination and it would have to go to the convention to decide.

What's the difference between Trump and Romney anyway? No, that's not the opening line of a joke. I simply don't see much difference. They both worship money and making more of it is their primary motivation. Romney might be a more polite, but not much more. His phony smile tells the whole story.

How come this "story" hasn't been picked up by any of the pro-Hillary (a.k.a. "mainstream") news outlets?

You're right. I don't think it's a story yet either, or if it ever will be. That's why none of the big outlets have it. The link in the OP is the only story I found stating that Romney filed the paperwork. Most search results circle back to the same article. One report I read was that "Romney For President" committee filed the paperwork, which may just be a group trying to recruit Mitt to run.

Trump appeals to lower middle-class disenfranchised voters. He will also get the Reagan-Democrat vote. Romney would not.

Well the hapless Hillary ho is exactly like both Romney and Trump. She is the Mary Queen of Goldman Sachs who is only out for her own self aggrandizement. You are a stupid fuck if you intend to vote for her.

I don't think this would work out for him. Would it not be tremendously embarrassing to run a third time and LOOSE a third time??!!

What an interesting development, looks like his FEC was filed 1/30/2016 and electronically certified by his designated treasurer on 2/1/2016. GW Bush and mother didn't have any influence, why does Romney think he will? icon_eek.gif

Mr. Crate served as Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the Romney for President campaign in 2012, a role that he also held during the 2008 cycle. From 2003 to 2007, Darrell served as the Chairman of the Massachusetts Republican Party.

On January 30, 2016, Mr. Crate filed a Statement of Organization with the Federal Election Commission forming a campaign committee for Mitt Romney for President and Paul Ryan for Vice President.

Sheesh. You'd think most guys on a site called "RealJock" would recognize an obvious Hail Mary pass! The Republican elites are pretty desperate with respect to Trump's status, and desperate times call for desperate measures.

OK, Mitt Romney Did Not File Papers To Run For President Last Month
    http://www.thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/davidbadash/mitt_romney_is_not_going_to_run_for_president

    UPDATE:
The Inquisitr adds: "In the Romney 2016 presidential election filing, it shows that Romney has been spending money actively on the campaign budget for legal consulting and data management. The full list of Romney’s expenditures for the Romney-Ryan campaign can be seen here."

UPDATE II: 3:31 PM EST –
As a reader notes, the box that reads "Check if address is changed" is checked. It could merely be the campaign is letting the FEC know they have changed their address, but why would they need to? Also, as the Inquisitr (above) notes, "Romney has been spending money actively on the campaign budget for legal consulting and data management. The full list of Romney’s expenditures for the Romney-Ryan campaign can be seen here."

UPDATE III: 3:40 PM EST –
A message left for the campaign has not yet been returned.

    UPDATE IV:
We're going to assume this is an amended filing and not for 2016, as we have not been able to locate a candidate statement from Romney for 2016. Thanks to readers Brian Francis and Ben Wheeler for their help via Twitter!

    UPDATE V: 5:52 PM EST –
Turns out Wooledge wrote about this at Daily Kos, and there posts this from Bradley Crate, the founder and president of a group the Romney campaign uses:

Every Republican I know hates Trump and is sick about what he is doing to the GOP. True conservatives are desperate to find someone to stop Trump, because they believe he is doing serious damage to the country and the GOP will get blamed for all the carnage that will result from his presidency in the unlikely event he is actually elected.

If it's not Romney, I think true conservatives will run their own candidate on an independent ticket and distance themselves from the Trump implosion.

I find that highly unlikely. The Republicans and the country as a whole seem to have largely forgotten the Bush years and what a calamity they were.
