More Israeli Jews believe continued building of West Bank settlements is helpful to Israel's security.

    ||Roughly half of Israeli Jews want Palestinian citizens (Israeli Arabs) expelled or transferred from the country, according to a new poll.

    ||The Washington-based Pew Research centre, a non-partisan think-tank which carried out face-to-face interviews with 5,601 adults from October 2014 through May 2015, asked whether "Arabs should be expelled or transferred from Israel".

    ||Half of the Jewish respondents strongly agreed or agreed with that statement, with approximately the same numbers opposing the notion.

    ||The results have been met with alarm by politicians and observers alike, with Israeli president Reuven Rivlin calling the poll a "wake-up call for society" as he asked for "soul searching and moral reflection" over some of its disturbing findings.

How many Palestinian/Arab Muslims would like to see the extermination of Israel?

Well, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Jewish Israelis want a secular democracy but they also want it to be a Jewish state. They fear losing their majority. But they also realize they can't discriminate without being clearly hypocritical. It's a tough nut.

It was late 1800s, when the Zionist colonized Palestine. Nothing to do the Biblical times.

I am more Israeli than you because my Jewish grandparents lived in Palestine late 1800s and Syria both areas. I bet your grandparents were illegal immigrants in Atlit detainee camp.

Sam, any Palestinians or others who choose to live in Israel must accept that President who took control over Israel has be a Jew. Moreover, voting should be allowed only for citizens willing to sign an oath to support and defend Israel and to accept Israel as the Jewish National Homeland. I know many Palestinians and others do not agree, because they believe Israel is their national homeland too. That is why I do not support a Zionist movement.

So can Israel be a democratic and a Jewish state? OXYMORON.

That is like saying Turkey is an "Islamic state and secular". Turkey has second largest Jewish population in the Middle East after Israel. Then Iran comes third.

Run a poll in the Middle East asking "Should Israel be wiped off the map and its Jews executed?" , and I'd bet a lot of money that at least 40-50% would say "Yes"

Only your Fox News' mindset would say such a lie. If yes, I don't blame them. Palestinians were wiped off the map of Palestine like it happens in 1948, 1967, 1973, and on?

How can people be that stupid "Israel wiped off the map" and ignore the Palestinians problem.

with all of the money wasted bickering about it since 1945, the palestinians could have bought out everyone in hawaii, or some other nice place, and lived happily ever after. why so much worry about a few square miles. Just on the PRINCIPLE, it is time to give it up. Why waste your life fighting for 3 generations on something the world is never going to let you have. Start again and be happy somewhere else. In practical terms it is the only thing that makes sense. When you are arguing one irrational belief system against another irrational belief system, best to cut your losses. It doesnt matter if it is right, or wrong, or giving in, or not. It is PRACTICAL to just give in and be happy.

It is kind of like when you are in some sort of war, and CANADA, is bombing you. You really should look at yourself and think CANADA is bombing me. Maybe IM the DICK here.

No, the Arab race in the Middle East was never obliterated by the British or other imperialists. The Arabs were conquered, not murdered by the millions.

Did you just say "If yes, I don't blame them?" Massacring people based upon their race is never just. My goodness.

All anyone needs to know about the Israel-Palestine conflict is this: were the Israelis to lay down their arms, there would be a second Holocaust. Were the Palestinians and other surrounding Arab countries to lay down their arms, nothing would occur; Israel would not invade other countries and engage in territorial conquest or genocide.

Period. End of story. Nimrod just said that a second Holocaust would be acceptable to him. That's all anyone needs to know.

As a Jew, I never say anything about the "second holocaust" in my post. Your argument did not address my own, but nice try.

It seems KJSharp ignores Al Nakba, which means the Holocaust or the catastrophe. What is an Arab? So Esau and Saul both Jews married Ishmaelite women, that make their kids Arabs? Arab is not a race. KJsharp is clueless.

Palestinians have no useful weapons, their common weapon is "rock". Palestinians aren't allow to carry guns, only PA security guard and police. If Palestinians lay their "weapons" down, there will be no more Palestinians left and Israel will take all of Palestinian lands.

Juxtaposing the Holocaust and the Nakba is itself odious.
The former is the mass murder of 6,000,000 Jews.
For the "crime" of being born Jews.
The Jews hadn't rejected a UN compromise or started a war against Germany.

The latter is 700,000 refugees that were the result of a war started by the Arab parties (with the stated purpose being to "mount a momentous massacre" and "throw the Jews into the sea) after rejecting the UN partition compromise and peaceful coexistence. The MAJORITY of these refugees were NOT "expelled", "forced out" or "ethnically cleansed", they FLED the Arab-initiated violence.

Prof. Benny Morris concludes there were about 800 extra-judicial murders of Arabs by Jews in a war that lasted more than a year - not sure why anyone would expect that this would be the only war in history were no such things happened; compare to Syria or Iraq where that many people have been massacred in one DAY. The refugees were not the victims of Israeli brutality (those who stayed put are today Israeli citizens) but of their war-mongering leaders and in some cases their own greed - seeking to sack the Jews and take their spoils.

Unfortunately there are those today who continue to hate Jews/Israel more than they care for the Palestinian Arabs. Rather than advocate peace, they prefer to incite and spread hate - such as by the posting of this thread.

The "72%" figure is from one specific time/place, not the entire war.

Let's see what Prof. Benny Morris actually writes:

    || Israel-haters are fond of citing - and more often, mis-citing - my work in support of their arguments. Let me offer some corrections.

    || The Palestinian Arabs were not responsible "in some bizarre way" (David Norris, January 31st) for what befell them in 1948. Their responsibility was very direct and simple.

    || In defiance of the will of the international community, as embodied in the UN General Assembly Resolution of November 29th, 1947 (No. 181), they launched hostilities against the Jewish community in Palestine in the hope of aborting the emergence of the Jewish state and perhaps destroying that community. But they lost; and one of the results was the displacement of 700,000 of them from their homes.

    || in dozens of localities around Palestine, Arab leaders advised or ordered the evacuation of women and children or whole communities, as occurred in Haifa in late April, 1948. And Haifa's Jewish mayor, Shabtai Levy, did, on April 22nd, plead with them to stay, to no avail.

    || Most of Palestine's 700,000 "refugees" fled their homes because of the flail of war (and in the expectation that they would shortly return to their homes on the backs of victorious Arab invaders).

    || The displacement of the 700,000 Arabs who became "refugees" - and I put the term in inverted commas, as two-thirds of them were displaced from one part of Palestine to another and not from their country (which is the usual definition of a refugee) - was not a "racist crime" (David Landy, January 24th) but the result of a national conflict and a war, with religious overtones, from the Muslim perspective, launched by the Arabs themselves.

    || There was no Zionist "plan" or blanket policy of evicting the Arab population, or of "ethnic cleansing". Plan Dalet (Plan D), of March 10th, 1948 (it is open and available for all to read in the IDF Archive and in various publications), was the master plan of the Haganah - the Jewish military force that became the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) - to counter the expected pan-Arab assault on the emergent Jewish state. That's what it explicitly states and that's what it was. And the invasion of the armies of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Iraq duly occurred, on May 15th.

    || The demonisation of Israel is largely based on lies - much as the demonisation of the Jews during the past 2,000 years has been based on lies. And there is a connection between the two.

    || I would recommend that the likes of Norris and Landy read some history books and become acquainted with the facts, not recycle shopworn Arab propaganda. They might then learn, for example, that the "Palestine War" of 1948 (the "War of Independence," as Israelis call it) began in November 1947, not in May 1948. By May 14th close to 2,000 Israelis had died - of the 5,800 dead suffered by Israel in the whole war (ie almost 1 per cent of the Jewish population of Palestine/Israel, which was about 650,000).

Prof. Morris is well familiar with racist perverts like AyaTrolLiar founcer/pouncer, and it's almost like he had him in mind when he wrote the above. Down to "recycl[ing] shopworn Arab propaganda". It's not like he didn't already know the above. See:
