    The rise of American authoritarianism

"MacWilliams studies authoritarianism — not actual dictators, but rather a psychological profile of individual voters that is characterized by a desire for order and a fear of outsiders. People who score high in authoritarianism, when they feel threatened, look for strong leaders who promise to take whatever action necessary to protect them from outsiders and prevent the changes they fear."

"Not only did authoritarianism correlate, but it seemed to predict support for Trump more reliably than virtually any other indicator. "

That makes a lot of sense. Authoritarianism seems so un-American to me.

Bernie and Trump are both authoritarian and also viewed as outsiders.

Outsiders are in favor right now. Here yet another example of DC rot:

Touchy white Liberals at Vox. They mistake a blowhard for an authoritarian.

This is Leftist projection - the true home of authoritarianism is on the political Left, and has been for a long time. It manifests itself in the impulse to regulate anything and everything, especially in economic matters.

This drive is always couched in terms like "helping people" and "the common good."

Lefties get pissy when they sense any threat to their program of power and control.

Uh... like the Federal government passing a law that says every American citizen must purchase a good or service from a private corporation, or face punishment by the Federal government?

    * For the dimwits out there... I'm talking about Obamacare.

True.. he hasn't really picked up on the authoritarian aspect of life in US.
