    Anyone partake in such pass-time?

When I was in Mexico I couldn't find one foreigner interested in joining a smoke session. Everyone thought it was something illegal.

Do you guys have shisha lounges in ur area?

Also, is it worse than smoking cigarettes?

I think most of those studies that say so are propaganda since the gov't has no way to regulate it.

I enjoy it, however I'm finding it harder to avoid since I quit drinking and I hate the bar / club scene.

I've tried twice. Definitely more pleasurable than smoking, but not something I would do regularly.

The health concerns sound legitimate. I can easily see how you may be doing more damage in one sitting. But whether it's worse than smoking depends on the habits of a smoker. You can light up a cigarette anywhere. Unlike smoking shisha, in which you need a hookah (which is massive and nearly impossible to carry around) and likely need to sit down.

It's for that reason that I'm upset that my city is banning hookah bars starting next month. They cited the health concerns as the reason for the ban and they compared it to the regulations being put on smokers. But to me, they shouldn't be regulated the same way because hookah does not have the same impact on public health. Regulating cigarette smoking is somewhat to do with eliminating second hand smoke, which you should not have to be subject to if you are in public. Hookah smoke is contained to lounges and people's homes, so if you don't want to inhale the smoke second hand, then you just don't go.
