    The chaos consuming the Republican presidential campaign seems like it can’t possibly get worse for the party. It can and it is....

    ...They would have been hard pressed to conjure a darker nightmare than what now confronts them in a choice apparently narrowed to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.

    But even before that lose-lose proposition can be settled, its wages are spilling over onto Congressional Republicans....

    It's pretty unlikely because of Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression but possible. Even if it were to happen and D also take the Senate, R will still have filibuster numbers. I hear R statements of outrage about Trump but they still play their nasty games with no sense of reality beyond their bubble.

    Unless something changes soon the USA will have a Democratic POTUS and a Democratic Congress next year.

    Yeah, I was just thinking the other day about the gerrymandering issue and how that might effect this. Good call.

    I don't know how soon that would switch. But a counter-Trump effect could to some degree mitigate gerrymandering at some point. I do not have a good feel for that currently to judge it.
