Sally Kern Says She's Found the "Gay Agenda"

Homophobic Oklahoma state representative Sally Kern is at it again -- this time urging a crowd at the “Clouds Over America” conference of the John Birch Society that the time has come “for a new ‘Great Awakening,’” evidenced by a “gay agenda” she says she uncovered in the book After the Ball.

According to Kern, the book, written by Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen and based on a musical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s Lady Windermere’s Fan, documents a “public relations campaign to have gays accepted by the general public -- step by step -- with the final goal being not just acceptance of gays by heterosexuals but eventual triumph of homosexuality as a superior lifestyle.”

Kern’s thoughts were documented by the Oklahoma Gazette and Towle Road, compiled from her speech at the event.

“You know, I’ve done a lot of reading on this,” Kern said. “I wish I could describe to you their behavior. I will not because I would be redder than this suit. It’s their behavior that we oppose.

“This theme of equality and freedom is the approach that the homosexuals are using today -- totally perverting the true intention of what our Constitution meant,” she continued. “The homosexuals get it -- it’s a struggle between our religious freedoms and their right to do what they want to do.”

According to the organization’s official Website, the mission statement of the John Birch Society is to provide “Americans with the educational materials, programs, campaigns, and organizational leadership to restore our constitutional Republic.” (Advocate.com)

That's the plan? I thought we were going to enslave the heterosexuals and force them to work in sweat shops making our hot designers cloths, shoes and accessories.

If someone actually wanted to promulgate an alleged Gay Agenda, is this really where we would expect to look for it? That's too laughable.

And BTW, the John Birch Society has for years been a discredited extremist right-wing group, that I thought was almost extinct. Kern keeps good company.

The only real agendas I know are the anti-gay ones of conservative right-wingers and religious fundamentalists. A typical tactic to accuse your opponents of engaging in the very same tactics that you do.

    She said THIS?

"it’s a struggle between our religious freedoms and their right to do what they want to do.”

The two have nothing to do with each other, unless religious freedom entails the persecution of others, in which case it's not religious freedom at all but religious dictatorship.

Heh, just who exactly has the agenda here, anyways? Methinks is the Sally Kern Agenda.

I was unaware that a Gay Agenda exists. I DO know, however, of Sedative's plan for World Domination.

... which is what? To love whom we want to love without shame, scrutiny, and fear? I don't think that's unique to the "gay agenda" (whatever the f--k that is). Man, I never underestimate the stupidity of "people in power" and those who are given a forum to air their views.

I can't believe you all had an agenda and no one told me. I've been fooling around all this time and I could have had a piece of the agenda?

Any homophobe would love to have hard evidence to prove we were planning all along to have a massive gay orgy on their front lawn followed by a polygamous gay wedding and gay adoption of two little Burmese girls. icon_rolleyes.gif

Which Constitution is she referring to? I don't think she's talking about the American Constitution. What country are we living in again?

Dang, she already uncovered part one of our agenda to destroy mankind! Next she'll unearth the truth that the real reason we work out at the gym isn't to look hot, but to overpower with brute muscle all the straight men in the world.

cjcscuba1984 said“The homosexuals get it -- it’s a struggle between our religious freedoms and their right to do what they want to do.”

The problem with evangelical fundamentalists like Kern is that they believe their "religious freedom" includes the right to dictate to other individuals what they may or may not do.

Since they are easily offended by people they consider moral degenerates, it is a violation of their religious freedom to be forced to co-exist with these degenerates. So rather than increase their own tolerance for diversity, they expect others to change their behavior to make the fundamentalists more comfortable. I'm not making this up. This is paraphrased from many fundamentalists I used to be acquainted with.

And apparently Kern is not all that bright. You don't announce that you've "discovered" something that's published in a well known book. She apparently has no understanding of satire, either.

You know, my knee-jerk reaction when I read shit like this is to blame American culture in general. And I sit high up here on my Canadian pedestal with both knees jerking, but you know what?

Its not America. Or Americans. It's just bullshit people who somehow think that hate is an acceptable practice.

I don't feel pity, but I do feel sadness. I hope someday you can all enjoy the same freedoms and rights I've got. Cause its not fair. Period.

You have my support, even if I sometimes come across as anti-american.

*tears up a little* I'm sorry you're still dealing with this bullshit guys. It sucks.

No wonder we're not making any progress! Only 30 minutes for all that? I never devote less than a full 60 minutes a day to destroying the moral fabric of society, and that's just one of our agenda objectives.

I think you're letting the rest of us down with these misguided priorities of yours. Maybe if you could just focus on blackmailing national leaders during that time period, instead of trying to do it all? Just a suggestion...
