Oh, I see. I guess there are no actual policy issues we should be discussing about why or why not these people should be president. Lots of presidents had crazy spouses. So what?

    Ted's already lost.

That's the problem running against Trump. He puts it all out there about himself and seems to be proud of it. Hillary should take ownership of anything put on her and move on or she'll continue to look like she's hiding something.

All new rules for this election.

So she should own all the Republican lies about her and Trump has revealed all about himself, in what, all his dealings, Casino biz and otherwise. Oh really, you think you know Trump?

    Yikes!

You might want to rethink that.

lol. If I didn't know all that about Trump I know it now.

He's trades in old models (wives) for a younger one every few years, he tries to take property with lawyers when he wants it. He's a very aggressive, gets what he want kind of guy. I think that is playing into his favor after 8 years of nice guy getting kicked in the teeth by the rest of the world.

Perception is reality. If I was Clinton, I'd roll with it. Saying "I'm innocent" doesn't seem to work. She could say things like "Hell I told Bears Sterns in their corporate ra ra meeting how great they were. You think they paid me $200k to tell them they are evil"?

But what does she say? "I'll look into releasing the transcripts for the meeting".

In the real world, if the perception is that you lie, you have to roll with it.

A very BIG "what". Abraham Lincoln had a possibly crazy wife (their son had her committed), certainly a very disturbed one. Who was a serious distraction and burden to him during the darkest days of the Civil War, rather than being a helpmate and supporter.

And modern First Ladies have far greater and more important roles and duties than in earlier Presidencies. Crazies need not apply. Nor sluts whose past can be used to mock and undermine them and their husbands, by US opponents throughout the world.

Yeah, the competency of US First Ladies in the 21st Century is a very, VERY big deal.

This seems nitpicky/gossipy to me. It's like we've stopped caring about people and just want to look for reasons to shoot people down because we don't agree with them. There are enough policy differences for people to base their decision to like/not like a candidate on. I don't think having a perfect family should be a requirement.

I think both women are smarter than their respective husbands. They should be running for presidency, not their husbands.

Slut shaming in the republican presidential race? icon_lol.gif

Well lets see, Ted Cruz is a closeted bisexual and his wife is a tranny. Either one of their wives could audition for the straight guy Carls Jr commercial icon_lol.gif

Perhaps I put too much into your having said that "He puts it all out there about himself" because he's such a con man. For him to put it all out there we'd see for certain what a tiny dick he has.

I get your point on perception but that doesn't to me justify playing to a lie. Roll with it? I don't even know how you come up with that. I don't believe in living in bizarro world even at risk of losing the Miss Congeniality contest yet again.

For instance, the poster Scumbeach1500 and his Gobs Of Poop lie about me all the time. Just as they lie about all Democrats who call them out on their bullshit. I'm supposed to roll with that? No. Not happening. I'll tell them to go fuck themselves every fucking time. Did I just lose another congeniality point? Aw. Do I think Hillary should fess up to something she didn't do because the GOP got people to believe she did? I find that to be ludicrous.

As to your perception that Trump is such a truthsayer, here, roll with this:

"Sometimes it is easier to see more clearly into the liar than into the man who tells the truth. Truth, like light, blinds. Falsehood, on the contrary, is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object.~~Albert Camus

Cruz and Trump are clearly trying to out-trash one another. It's like some low life reality TV show. What's next? - a brawl, broken up by on-set security personnel?

Raising the stakes in an already bitter battle, Donald Trump threatened Ted Cruz's wife in a cryptic tweet, saying he would "spill the beans" on her.

Mr Cruz responded shortly after, saying that his team had nothing to do with the ad. He warned Mr Trump that his wife is off-limits.

Good observation. But in the US today, trash sells. The Kardashians are but one of many examples of this. I'm not sure how we can turn this around. And now it has moved from our "entertainment" to our politics.

I sometimes wish we could have some absolute, but benign authority. Who would intervene and say: "Enough of this shit! Start acting like responsible adults!" But of course our US Constitution could never permit that, nor would I want the perils that might ensue with such dictatorial power.

But damn, we are headed down a road that Benjamin Franklin once presaged. When asked by a bystander, as he exited the Constitutional Convention: "Doctor Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?"

He allegedly replied: "A republic, if you can keep it."

I wonder if we can. icon_confused.gif

Trump will divorce Melania in less than 2 years. She's already reached the 10 year mark and he needs a new model. He should consider one of the Kardashians as that would ratings gold for the both of them.
