I've been saying for some time now here that Miami Beach is not the gay-friendly place that people assume it is. That time, so far as it once existed, is long past. Still some acceptance, but increasing hostility. A gay tourist might enjoy the sights, but stay on guard.

You'd think two grown gay men would know to never go into a Burger King.

Kind of an argument for concealed carry permits. If a homophobe is beating up my boyfriend, I pull my gun and shoot him. Or, if he is beating me up, I shoot him.

It's more a philosophical question: If gays everywhere said hey we support concealed carry gun laws and we WILL be armed, would homophobes think twice before attacking a gay man? If bad guys thought gay guys might be armed would it deter them or at least give them pause?

Stuff I think about. Open for discussion.

It may be a hoax but it has happened so often that it does not matter if this particular event happened or not. Does that even need to be said? It happens all the time. Happened to me in New Orleans in 2010. I think it was a Burger King.

Are you thinking you will just pick your boyfriend up off the ground and go home? You'd wind up in jail and would probably also wind up being sent to prison. If your boyfriend wasn't injured badly enough, there would be no felony charge for the assailant, which means he or she most likely wouldn't end up in prison.

    LOL

Yes, because in a world of concealed carry, no one ELSE is carrying a gun. Just you.

Chances are, your boyfriend is already dead in that world because the homophobe isn't beating up your boyfriend; he's pointing the gun at you now.

Bud, no one in their right mind is going to draw a gun in a public place like Burger King. Either learn to defend yourself or carry pepper spray or mace.

Exactly! Only the crazies would do that, which again shows that "guns don't kill, people do." I don't support open carry, and do support stricter gun registration laws that don't impede the II Amdt., but don't back up my beliefs with spurious arguments that focus on the guns themselves and not those who shoot them.

That Burger King is right next to twist... People are always in and out. Gay guys making out every etc... It's always filled with guys etc but when people are intoxicated it just turns into a mess. I have seen all kinds of craziness.. The damn police station is right across the street. I wonder if the other guys were also gay. There is probably more to the story then what is being reported.

I agree, passing off Burger King fare as food can no longer be tolerated.

"Rodriguez said that if Schaeffer and Danko lied to authorities about the altercation, the district attorney’s office may decide to charge them with filing a false police report.

Calls placed to the numbers Schaeffer and Danko provided to police officers and the number listed on the escort website were not returned."

Yet another example of how turning people into victims really just creates monsters with entitlement issues.
