    Hey everyone! icon_smile.gif

I'm 18, with a slim body and I was wondering if you guys could help me with some advice and tips on getting the ideal athletic body?..(Because I don't wanna be muscular)...just a fit build but toned and defined?

Nutritional and eating tips would help too!

P.S. tips for home gyming would be so great..if possible!

    Please and Thank You! X

You're a man. You will get muscular if you exercise. If you want to be slim, then just do a lot of cardio.

And be sure and do plenty of work for muscular abs, both upper and lower abs. Nothing makes a toned and defined body look as hot as some sharp abs.

Honestly to maintain that little amount of muscle while being really lean your most likely going to need genetics that predispose you to being fairly lean, then you just start to lift, actually crossfit is probably a better choice as you won't be working body parts like your lateral head of your deltoid or doing other accessorie movements that give you more of a bodybuilder/ lifter type look, and it will give you a more athletic or swimmers build type look. Otherwise if your bodytype is more along the lines of skinnyfat to fat or heavier you will basically need to starve yourself since you won't really have enough muscle mass to support having a lean build like that.

I was like you as well. Very very slim and with only small amounts of muscle.

I didn't want to pay for an expensive gym membership so I did my own routine at home. Pretty simple really, just exercises like planks, push-ups, crunches , squats, and a fair bit a running. I also did some swimming as well

But u gotta do it like everyday. And then eat lots of protein.

@dj93 Thank you so much! Your advice is probably the best as it comes from experience! I'll definitely do the same! Your body is what I want to achieve! Hopefully it works for me! icon_smile.gificon_biggrin.gif

    "I don't wanna get muscular"
Hahahahaha, if only it was that easy. Dude trust me, you won't get muscular unless you are killing yourself in the gym, so don't worry.

Resistance training is the way to go, I did a class called body pump, repetitive moves to music with those small plastic weights, I toned up and got bigger way faster than doing anything else, I am a bit pudgy right now because I quit smoking, never thought I would ever have body fat, now I do its weird having it, be thankful that you are slim, you will see it as a blessing when you are older but middle age catches up with everyone in the end, I can't get into my Armani suits any more damn it, what a waste of money. The gym will be cheaper than replacing my wardrobe.

I don't have as much experienced advice to give as others in this thread but I def relate. I started on my own physical goal to have more of a swimmers build by next year. I'm focusing on exercises which workout the core muscles and upper body strength.

Just after a week of working out for about 30-40 minutes I noticed my appetite increased.

Baring hyperthyroidism, genetics and such I'll add you need to increase the size and number of meals you eat since it can be difficult for ectomorphs to gain more muscle mass. Don't pig out on junk food to gain more weight, good sources of protein and healthy carbs seem to be the best things to eat in order to gain more muscle.

You may also have a fast metabolism which will slow down to a more normal rate as you get older.
