I hope he scares the bejesus out of some redneck Republican women. Though knowing those people, they're probably going to shoot first.

Oh please those two guys can pass and easily use the men's room stall with no problem. It's the unattractive male to females that may have an issue, but hell Janet Reno (manly looking genetically female former Attorney General) didn't have an issue using the women's restroom as far as I know, so I'm sure mtf shouldn't have an issue. This is the biggest non issue.

I bet they were some hard looking bitches. Top surgery usually gives it away though. I've read a lot of FtMs opt to just keep their tits, though that seems like even more of a dead giveaway.

You're probably right but the fact is it is the law for them to use the bathroom that corresponds to their birth gender, so by opting to 'pass' they are knowingly breaking the law. They shouldn't be forced to do that, surely? I don't know why the US is so backward in some things.

Isn't that the whole idea behind the change - to pass, to fool people into believing their something they're not?

Why does it matter if a m2f or f2m is passable? His/her official, documented gender (genetic or otherwise) should be dispositive.

How often are you asked for official documentation in order to use a restroom?

No. How do you think females become males? They are prescribed the same shit as men with low testosterone which is the same shit bodybuilders use: testosterone (steroids).

i was talking about the government comment u made. in the article he says he wanted the surgery and could pay for it out of pocket himself. nearly all transgender people take either testosterone or estrogen to help them become the gender they identify with. that's just basic common knowledge. what does the government have to do with it?

I know, I can't believe a gay guy is saying that it's a "non issue" to force trans men to break the law, (never mind creating a situation where passable vs less-passable mtfs use different washrooms like 2 social classes). Should we bring back Don't Ask Don't Tell in the military?

I guess that proves being gay doesn't make one any more empathetic to social injustice

Would you prefer there be three restrooms for people to choose from - male female and pre-op trannie? Should I be allowed to use the women's restroom solely because I think I'm female?

Then I guess the solution to the problem is to get rid of segregated restrooms altogether and make them unisex/gender/orientation.

Even my religious parents, who think gays and trans people are living in sin, won't use the slur "tranny". Just like with "queer" or "nigger", the problem isn't the word, but who it's coming from.

You make it sound like getting a sex change isn't a life-altering commitment requiring layers of approval from doctors, etc. The solution is simple; trans people use whichever bathroom their official gender corresponds to. If they don't feel comfortable, almost all buildings now have a barrier-free universal washroom that tends to be empty all the time anyway.

How is anyone to know what anyone's "official" gender is? Are we now supposed to carry government-issued "official gender" cards now?

Excellent point! Which is why people should just be allowed to use the restroom for the gender THEY identify as.

Just curious, are you a transgender F2M?

So again. If I say I'm a woman even though I had a penis at birth, was raised as a male, identified as a male most of my life, dressed as a male, presented myself as male, have XY chromosomes, was known as a male by family, friends and coworkers, and have had no surgeries to transition, I should be able to use the restroom reserved for women simply because I one day decide I'm now a woman?

Is this woman truly black just because she says she is? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3122205/White-NAACP-leader-pretended-black-pictured-time-scandal-broke-responds-atatcks-saying-don-t-two-sh-ts-gusy-think.html

Exactly. Not sure why undercoverman thinks it's such a big deal. My gender is right there on my drivers license, no need for hyperbole, unless one really has it in against "trannies" as he puts it..

It is a big deal. I would assume the DMV in most states will not change your gender designation on your drivers license unless it's been changed on your birth certificate. From what research I've done most states will not reissue a birth certificate without a court order in which the attending physician attests that the transition is complete (i.e., the f2m now has a "penis" and the m2f has "vagina"). I don't think you can have your gender changed on your drivers licenses simply by sashaying in wearing a wig and dress claiming you're a woman.

California says: "I attest that (name of petitioner) has undergone clinically appropriate treatment for the purpose of gender transition to (male or female)." I'm not sure if "appropriate treatment" means surgical reassignment.

I doubt seriously Aydian Doing would have an issue walking into any men's restroom any where in the world whether his transition is complete or not.

I suspect most women proponents of these "bathroom bills" see the legislation has simply preventing MTF transgendered people from using their restrooms. I wonder how many have actually considered how they'd feel if the guy above followed the law and entered the restroom they were in. After all, he would be using the restroom for the gender for which he was at birth -- a female. I think they'd be shocked and not at all happy that he was using THEIR restroom.

And if he did enter "their" restroom, how should he prove he was using the restroom dictated by law if he were to be challenged by women there? If he's pre-op, should he be then required to drop his pants and show them his vagina? And what if he's already had the sex change operation? Does he still drop his pants and show the women any scars that might exist?

How else does he prove he is using the lawfully correct restroom? Should the government issue each of us a "gender identity card" that we must then produce on demand to show we're using the lawfully correct restroom?

I don't think the sponsors and proponents of these bathroom bills have really thought this issue through.
