The private sector is inept? I shudder to think about what a government R&D issued smart phone would like. Oh wait, there wouldn't be smart phones. We would still be using these...

Gates has learned a lot from his bud Warren Buffet. That is, if he says something it is because he thinks the sheep will listen and he will profit.

Had we not intervened in the phone industry and break up the monopoly of ATT, our phones wouldn't be much smarter than the candlestick phone above.

What do you suppose the Pentagon system is all about?
High-tech government industry, the R&D and costs of which are socialised (with the sale and profits phase privatised).

What do you suppose passenger jets are, but military planes made by the government converted for civilian use?

Also, communication satellites, taking the phone example further.

In regard to the bolded section, that's absolutely true. It's why I think it's completely absurd that we have to pay so much for prescription drugs, and that our "representatives" in congress have voted away the ability for Medicare to negotiate prices. All while big-pharma argues that the prices are necessary to cover their R&D costs. Most Americans don't seem to realize we've already paid for most of that. Such bullshit.

    Hold Please.

Corporate hands in the public pocket? Is that socialism or stealing? Perhaps a Republican has a clever meme for that.
