The Great Trump Distortion

It seems the Republican civil war is obscuring the generally positive outlook in America.

WASHINGTON -- The evidence is in and it shows that the dominant media narratives about 2016 are wrong. Our country is not roiled with across-the-board discontent, and Donald Trump is not the most important voice in our politics. Turmoil in one of our political parties is being misread as reflecting a deep crisis well beyond its boundaries.

Yeah, that article reads mostly correct to me, at least on its take on Trump. I think that in the end people finally acknowledge or already do actualize that they see him as television. They might enjoy the entertainment as diversion but not as substance for their lives.

And then of course there are those who believe that television is real but hopefully not all critical thinking skills have been lost.

The article though is only partially correct and somewhat full of shit on this point: "If there is a bipartisan message in 2016, it is that our ruling classes have ignored the plight of those being hammered by technological change and globalization" because the shift of wealth from the middle classes to the upper less than 1% began (this round, at least) circa 1970 while globalization had been ongoing since, when, the spice trade? during which time we went from rowing the royal barge to steam engines to rockets such that the very big tech difference between 1950 when the middle classes prospered and 1970 when decline for the middle class set in (women having to go out to work a 2nd income, etc.) was, what, color TV and a princess phone? What has that to do with the distribution of wealth when given all the changes from the 1920s thru 1970, you know, automatic washing machines, microwaves and air conditioning, the middle classes thrived.

Which suggests to me that "ignoring the plight" (a Republican phrase?) is really just a polite way of saying "pillage".

I just heard a Republican commentator say that the reason Trump has prevailed over other more qualified Republican presidential candidates is that there's a disconnect between the Republican base and the Republican leadership. While I think that there's some truth to that, it's also an oversimplification of a more complex interplay of factors, such as discontent amongst the electorate, the novelty of Trump, increased tolerance for ambiguity, a negative perception of what lies ahead, inert hostility to the Obama administration, and a number of other intangibles that I can't even begin to mention here.

I have watched and listened to Trump for many MANY years and I never came with the impression he had nothing "substantive" to say. Just me I guess. He has played a different role in the reality slotter of the establishment. I think he knew he had to do that. I do think he will show a lot more soon! Just my thoughts.....not a total idea, yet.

If anyone should be despised it is that crooked, pathological liar and felonious con artist Hillary Clinton "the Wicked Witch of Wall Street".
