    Thread is mislabeled.
    The article clearly states:

Anatta doesn’t mean there’s no you

Science and Buddhism do not agree on the statement of this thread's label.

False Advertising in the Spirituality forum is rather sinful.

For this reason, if I could ignore all posts by metta in the Spirituality Thread, I would.

The thread title is taken verbatim from the linked article. metta is not engaging in false advertising, but rather in accurate advertising.

The portion that YOU lifted out of context may make YOU the one who's misleading, or at least miscomprehending. The article spends time analyzing the original statement, and to examining its true meaning.

Much of it has to do with the concept of "you" (self-image & perception), and how this is a plastic and changing state. But read it again for yourself, and you may begin to understand what it's trying to convey, that the solid "you" we imagine to exist actually doesn't. And in that sense, there is indeed no "you" there, because we are "constantly changing, constantly evolving, and shape-shifting."

Is that really what your reading comprehension tells you?

Just because there is change does not mean there is no you.

    Metta,

If an article is mis-labeled, please do not follow suit.

    People are born.
    They have a natal chart.
    Yes, natal charts have progressions.
One does not have more than one natal chart.
The natal chart is the you one has for a given incarnation.

    The article is misleading.

When it comes to reincarnation, people can explore past lives. The you can have past lives.

    Thompson says:

There is nothing that corresponds to the sense that there’s an unchanging self.

    Stephenoabc

    Thompson is in error.

    Again, the article says:

"Anatta doesn’t mean there’s no you; it just means that you are constantly changing, constantly evolving, and shape-shifting."

So, the title of the article conflicts with the content.

    It's a false advertising title.
It's a false advertising sound bite.
It's a false advertising forum titles glance sight.

I could point out the complete meaninglessness of one's natal chart in supplying any useful information at all, except as a psychological placebo effect, or possibly, in some more weak-minded people, a guide that they think they have to comply with...but I won't, and just point out debates like this end up being kind of pointless, since they are most often a matter of interpretation.

Go right ahead. And while you're at it, do the same for the Astro-Carto-Graphy map.

Bonus: do the same with Lunar Astrology (Chinese Astrology)
