A crazy thing, don't expect most to buy into it, but some of these amazing people I've met in the last few years who are mystics and who see angels, spirit guides, and all sorts of awesome stuff, have me convinced at looking to traveling Europe and dating men like crazy over there. Lol. I can't get into all the reasons behind this advice, but I'm going with it, trying to plan, and looking for tips from the well traveled.

I'll be using WorkAway.info as a major source. Are there specific cities any of you would recommend with an amazing population of gay men? I'm longing for the heat of mediteranean sunshine and ideal some good water to swim in, but the whole of Europe is an open possibility. Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Greece, and other places.

My question is probably not highly specific, just some general ideas of good spots. (I know a guy who went and lived in Barcelona, for example, telling me he loved that place, that within 100 feet of him on Grindr where he lived, he had hot, hairy, muscular daddies by the dozens. He was in, what for him, was heaven).

The places I stay don't need to be based on a gay centered focus, but I would enjoy being where I could have access to dating amazing men. Shoot me some thoughts if you have insights, travel tips, recommendations, favorite places, resorts, recommendations of best bathhouses, nude beaches, and other exciting things.

I'm a fan of history, art, architecture, opera, classical music, majestic landscapes, seascapes, and most of all, hot, muscular, hairy, intact, European men. (And men from all around the globe are great too, but Europe is the current travel agenda).

Well .. This is a difficult one but I find Spain being your best bet along with Portugal .. Everything you would want you would find there .. Try to pay a visit to Ibiza and Palma de Mallorca .. The Spanish beaches are open and easy to get but the Portuguese ones, though gorgeous, you would need to get a car cause they are, in many instances, concealed ..

Italy has stunning gorgeous men. I visited Sicily last year and I was never able to find any gay nude beaches ..

Your second bet is Croatia; another heavenly place with all these islands and secluded beaches ..

There are more stunning beaches North of Italy and Spain but I presume you like the olive skin men ..

Best of luck and enjoy ..

I think every country in Europe would be good especially in Summer. Hot muscular men are everywhere.

Eastern Europe tends to be more closeted and conservative but if you're on Grindr you should be fine.

Scandinavia, UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain are going to be the most open. Barcelona is always a hotbed and in summer everyone from Europe will be there. Also the Canary Islands and Ibiza are recommended although I've never been there.

Italy (mainly southern) and Greece are slightly more conservative. For Greece go to the islands especially Mykonos for the nude beaches.

For history and art - Italy has everything.

Nude beaches: Germany is the most liberal but the beaches aren't warm. Mykonos and most of Spain has nude beaches.

Traveling is a great idea. Men or no men involved.

If you enjoy your WestCiv you simply cannot go wrong with Europe.

Now, some folks are more into covering the territory as opposed to enjoying an in-depth experience. This is a simple preference. You choose what suits you best.

if you plan on much travel, do hit Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Barcelona, Paris, Madrid and Lisbon. This will be rewarding in every sense of the wordicon_biggrin.gif .

If you want to settle down a bit, and have a bit more of the in-depth exploration, settle down in Barcelona, enjoy the city, AND make as many trips around as you feel like.

Traveling around Europe is pretty easy these days even if you only have a limited budget! Airbnb is practically omnipresent, and relatively nicely prices. A number of very inexpensive airlines serve all the major and a few of minor destinations. You won't go wrong with flexible planning, and playing it by the ear either.

Hitting major tourist spots such as Barcelona, Ibiza or even Berlin, Vienna and Prague in July and August is relatively expensive. We are talking the high season, so that's what it is. But there are rewards for paying the premium, too. Everybody is thereicon_wink.gif. So, everybody gets to choose and still have plenty of fun in the process...

PVT me if you have any specific questions.

Yes, the top two cities on my recommendation list are Barcelona and Lisbon! If you are in Barcelona, Sitges is a very gay and happening town and is only about 14 miles southwest.

    Cheers,

The entire European continent is a great place to visit, but in my experience the best place to find "hairy, intact European men" are Prague (Czech Republic) and Hamburg (Germany).

Vienna is great if you want to visit a city with a beatiful city centre! - Praque or Budapest are awesome as well if you want to visit cities like Vienna. Each of these cities definitely has its own perks I'd say!

As for the men in Vienna - it should be great if you're into clubbing and the scene! Other than that, it's probably harder to find suitable men in the city!

I think the best looking men are in Portugal and Sweden, if you don't like foreskin then you are screwed because 99% haven't been circumcised, every country have different approaches, the French are the hardest to understand because you can't really tell if they are into you or not, Europeans are very well educated and appreciate intelligence, many speak multiple languages, the Portuguese are quite worldly and polite, Swedish men seem unresponsive but actually are very good listeners and are very much in control of themselves so if they are interested in you its kinda hard to tell. Every country is culturally different and will take quite a while to get used to it.
I am sure that not coming from Europe the guys will forgive cultural differences between you and them, easy to approach and less judgmental than American men because there seems to be less of an issue on what you earn, what you have and where you live.
English guys make fun of you if they are comfortable in you presence and you shouldn't feel offended by it, its meant to be endearing, its called taking the piss in the UK. Aussies are the same but more blunt.
I'm sure you will figure it all out, just ask people and you will get on fine.

Not sure why anyone anywhere would specifically seek out a guy due to his "intactness" (straight men certainly don't with women!), but anyway, my sister went to England last year and as you mentioned, they made fun of her and she was totally taken aback until she realized that it was meant in good fun. Also, +1 on the Portugal for meeting gay guys - my lesbian high school Spanish teacher (who also spoke fluent Portuguese) once told me that it has more gay men there than San Francisco and New York combined!

If you are around Europe during summer, make sure you hit the Pride dates ... The Madrid one and the Berlin or London one are massive. Lisbon is a little smaller, just as the city itself - but has a more artistic/alternative vibe than cities in Spain like Madrid or Barcelona (or the various Islands).

For experiencing european culture - any of the major cities - London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Rome, Madrid.

Rome (and anywhere in Spain) clubs get going very late. I wouldn't want to be in Rome in the summer (neither do the Romans who can get away), but there is a gay beach south of Ostia that is only great in the summer. The beach resort town of Sitges - just west of Barcelona - is a popular gay vacation spot. For island beaches popular with gay men, look at Ibiza (Spain) and Mykonos (Greece).
