I know a few who are obsessed with the number of people who hot list them on here. I think most take this site for what it is and don't go too overboard.

Like I always say.. It's only the internet.

But then again, some guys live in the sticks where there are no other gay guys around. No gay establishments to visit. So yeah, for some guys, online forums are their only social outlet.

He pretty much nailed it. I live in the bible belt and have no gay friends. So yes, this is an outlet for me.

BTW, I could careless about hotlisting numbers.

No I certainly don't take the posts too seriously. Some people I listen to attentively because I think they have a good knowledge base and/or life experiences. Others I pass over because they seem to have an axe to grind, or a chip on their shoulder, whatever.

This is the only time, I do now days, have anything to do with the gay community.

I don't do gay bars or clubs, or anything gay, and really haven't for the past 25 years. But before that it was oh so diffrent.

But I am making some wonderful friends here too, guys I would love to meet, and spend time with. Even when some leave RJ i keep in contact, the latest being is Zdew.

Many people go out of their way to insult and hurt me here, because I'm forthright, and I know everything is not happy and gay about this community. So I truly don't take any of it on, or own their issues.

This is tottaly diffrent to the world I live in, and I'm diffrent here too.

    Welcome anyway.

For me it justs add some variety to what I get in the real world, I get to read and deal with a wider variance of opinions and people.

LOL RJ is entering a great depression of its own as far as the forums are concerned.

That's true. The interesting thing about online forums is that people are more inclined to say things they normally wouldn't say in person. I think having some level of anonymity on the internet makes people lose some of their inhibitions. Sometimes that's good and sometimes that's bad. icon_lol.gif

This site is the only place I can be myself. Expose all those things I do and be confident about being gays. I tell you guys a lot of my dark hidden secret that I never dream to tell anyone else. I have to play my little carade of being straight at work and among my family. Probably now you understand why I cant post my pic here.

I just look at is as some mildly amusing entertainment. It IS the internet after all, so you can't take any of it too seriously. It is what it is. I have met some really great people on here though, so for that reason alone it is worth it.

Yeah, for me it's kind of my only gay social outlet, BUT I tend not to try to take things too seriously. However I do like the fact I can ask all of you questions about getting in better shape, cause I never have been able to go it right.

I do like how it's a pretty friendly (and usually hilarious) community here on RJ.
Even better though are the real friends I've made on here. Some of which are even within a few hours of me.

I like it here, I can be me, I can laugh at forum posts, and I can get (and hopefully give) great advice!

And faaar better the Gay.com for sure. (At least i think so)

Hi lawdawg04, Yeah we tend to take the postings and the topics seriously. Why? Because we treat all of you like you're real people (which you are, right?), based on how you present yourselves.

The issue of 'its the internet, so you can say anything you want and not take people seriously' is part of what makes internet society so full of hurt and angry misunderstandings.

We tend to speak to others here with the mindset of imagining them sitting here in our living-room. Keeps things fairly civil and a whole lot easier.

Well, since the credit crunch yes, I've become part of the statistics you're referring to. I've been staying-in more and online, too! RJ and Facebook: my precious penny-savers. icon_redface.gif

I'm sure many use this as their primary social outlet. As far as members taking their posts far to seriously? Yes. Defiantly. I could even name a couple.

I think its a good social site to discuss a variety of topics.... fitness being at the top. I enjoy it as a fun supplement to my day, especially those where I'm working and can't socialize, except for a few minutes.

I've met some awesome people on this site. Most have no idea what I do with the rest of my day, and I'd never bring it up unless it was something they were interested in. Then I'd blab about it for hours.

I get lots of practice here, organizing my thoughts and reading what I hope is an accurate reflection of the posters' mental states. The few I've met have been pretty much like they project here.
