GOP worries rise amid hostile Trump comments on Latinos and Muslims

Rick Wilson, a longtime GOP operative who has been one of the most aggressive critics of Trump, penned a column to fellow Republicans this weekend warning that candidates up for election will be yoked to Trump: “You own his politics. You own his policies, even the ones that only last as long as the next contradiction. You own the racial animus that started out as a bug, became a feature and is now the defining characteristic of his campaign. You own every crazy, vile chunk of word vomit that spews from his mouth.”

Republican strategist Brian Walsh, a former spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, quickly took to social media after Trump’s remarks on Muslims on Sunday: “I don’t care if he’s the nominee — Republicans should loudly condemn this racist, nonsensical rhetoric by Trump,” Walsh tweeted.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) responded to Trump’s latest comments with a strongly worded statement to The Washington Post. “His comments are offensive and wrong and he should retract them,” said Ayotte.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich, another Trump booster, also criticized him on “Fox News Sunday.” “This is one of the worst mistakes Trump has made, and I think it’s inexcusable,” said Gingrich. He added: “If a liberal were to attack Justice Clarence Thomas on the grounds that he’s black, we would all go crazy.”

The funny thing is all these critics still say they'll vote for him in the election. The other sage words of wisdom I keep hearing is how Trump needs reign in this bile for the general election. They don't care that that is exactly what he thinks and will be what he acts on if elected, they just want to win at any cost. Absolutely no moral baseline in that bunch. Disgusting. And it isn't just Trump. It is the majority of the Party who voted for him.

When a person--or party--shows you their true colors, believe them the first time. The GOP has, literally, no moral authority after its unabashed embrace and support of Trump. They'll not only lose the general election, but they've rendered their party incapable of winning a national election for at least a decade. Their Latino support is around 20%, Romney lost in a landslide with 23%. Their hate is what killed them.

What's remarkable is that after 2012 and the complete blow-out they did an autopsy report and concluded they needed to appeal to more Latinos and minority groups. Trump is, literally, the opposite of that mentality and tactic.
