It is going to be 106-117 today where I am. Too hot. Not only that, I live in a canyon and there is a forest fire on both sides of me. A siren is going off and police are banging on my door to get out. hmmm....oh well....go with the flow.

A very good friend of mine lives at my listed travel location of Palm Springs, CA. When I looked at weather.com earlier today the temperature there was 125 degrees, WOW! I think that is a record. In Chicago today, it's not that bad, temperature reached 90 degrees with high humidity. It feels like Texas here today.

Officially, the fire is a threat but I'm not in imminent danger. The flames seem to have died down...at least the ones that could be seen from my home. Lots of smoke. I'm not leaving. They won't let me back in if I leave.

Can you turn on the water and wet the area around your home? That can help.
Bunker down and stay hydrated. It's hot all over

It is not dangerous. They just don't want to let everyone back in yet.

I'm fine. It is burning on this side of the hill, the downhill burn is really slow. If was dangerous the fire department would not have left. They must have more dangerous areas to take care of.

You should invite in certain select firefighters to get out of all those heavy clothes and shower off...

lol....they won't leave their post. I offered the community lodge for them but they said they have to keep an eye on the fire.

OMG Metta be careful, those pictures are scary as that fire is VERY close to you.
