    Save Your Sympathy. You Are The Problem.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cj-prince/save-your-sympathy-tweets_b_10512818.html

    Dear weeping politicians, it is long past time for you to connect these dots. You cannot, in one moment, marginalize, demonize and cast as “other” a particular group, and then in the next moment, lament the fact that that group is being targeted for a hate crime. If you advocate for inequality—whether because of your religious beliefs, your cultural beliefs, your political aspirations, etc.—you are helping to create a culture that made LGBTQ people an easy mark for a lunatic homophobe with an assault weapon, regardless of whether his homophobia was internalized or externalized.

    By failing to speak up against discrimination and hate, you have made the world unsafe for LGBTQ people, fueling their own self-loathing and inciting homophobic rage in others. You are the reason hate crimes against LGBTQ people were up in 2015, and particularly against people of color, transgender people and those who are gender-nonconforming. You are the reason LGBTQ teens are the daily targets of harassment, bullying and violence in schools. And you are the reason they too often choose suicide over the pain of living as a human target.

    You cannot, as Rep. Trent Franks did, call marriage equality a threat to the nation’s survival and then tweet that your “thoughts and prayers are with all the victims, their families, and first responders in the ‪#Orlando attack.”

    You cannot, as Sen. Ted Cruz did, call LGBTQ rights leaders “jihadists” out to destroy the Christian way of life, and then tweet this: “Our hearts go out to those killed and wounded last night. Our prayers are with their families, and with all their grieving loved ones.”

    You cannot, as Sen. Rand Paul did, compare same-sex marriage to bestiality and then tweet that your “thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”

    You cannot, as Gov. Mike Huckabee did, deny the existence of racism in this country and call marriage equality proponents nazis and then ask people to join you “in praying for the victims of the Orlando attack and their families.”

    You cannot, as Congressman Steve Russell did, personally sponsor the bill allowing federal contractors to discrimination against LGBTQ people and then tweet this: “There is simply no civilized explanation for the horrific terror act in Orlando, Florida.”

    You cannot, as Michelle Bachmann did, post a photo of the Orlando skyline with the hashtag “#PrayForOrlando” after you’ve called for Christians to engage in “spiritual warfare” to combat same-sex marriage and compared LGBTQ people to Satan.

    You cannot, as Gov. Phil Bryant of Mississippi did, sign a law that allows businesses to refuse service to LGBTQ people and then ask everyone to join you in “praying for God’s peace and comfort for those affected by the horrific act of terror in Orlando.

    You cannot as Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina did, sign into law the “bathroom bill,” criminalizing transgender individuals who use restrooms corresponding with their gender identity, and then tweet this: “Orlando shooting was a tragedy & should never take place in our country. Those who died were innocent victims of an inexcusable act.”

    You cannot, as Gov. Gary Herbert of Utah did, support that discriminatory “bathroom bill” by suing for the right to discriminate against trans people and then issue a statement saying “our hearts are broken” and “we all stand united in support of our brothers and sisters in Orlando.”

    No more broken hearts. No more prayers for peace and comfort. No more pseudo-solidarity.

    If you do not advocate for full equality for LGBTQ people, you are the problem.

    I agree with this.....
    But we all understand that politician of every type are attention whores looking for the latest event to capitalize on for their own gain...the only concern and allegiance is to staying in office and following wherever the $$$ and votes are. That the bigots are sending out tweets of condolences or support, was never a shocker. Trump using the news as a way to further bash on Obama, should be seen as an example of him acting "Presidential"....he can't and doesn't understand what civility, grace under pressure and respect are, or how to apply them.

    Here's Obama's "Good Friend" who has been rewarded with a free trade deal for stoning gays to death:

    Here's Hillary who accepted $56,000 in jewelry and over 100 Million Dollars to the family foundation from Islamic dictators who imprison and stone gays to death:

    You're referring to the Orlando shooter? Islam was an afterthought that he appended just to make him look like something instead of nothing. He was a fucked up self-loathing (probably gay) crazy person who just lost it. Orlando wasn't an Islamic terrorist rampage. It was lunatic with a weapon handed to him by Republicans for cash from the NRA.

    Nicely done, OP.

    Wow, I could not have said this better myself.... I am Christian as well, and am ashamed of their behaviour. The Bible teaches nothing about bigotry and hate towards each other, yet these folks hide behind the Bible and Christianity when it comes to their hate and bigotry. I believe this behaviour is what drives people away. Ridiculous.

    Cheers,

    Sean

    That doesn't make sense. Christians disapproving of extending the privilege of marriage (which was originally done for political reasons and not for love) have no effect on Islamic terrorists. Islam has deep hatred towards homosexuality. Disliking sex change operations has no effect on mass murder. You're really grasping for straws.

    http://www.breitbart.com/jerusalem/2016/06/20/exclusive-anjem-choudary-put-practicing-gays-to-death-wherever-they-are/

    Asked whether gays who were confirmed to have engaged in homosexual acts should be stoned under sharia law, Choudary replied:

    They would be wherever you are, whether in the East or the West, if we had the Sharia implemented, as you say, with a judiciary, with a legitimate leader and the courts, etc., were there. Then yes. They will face capital punishment. I mean, people differ about the way that punishment would be implemented, but it would be the death penalty.

    Yep, he just has Republican Christian written all over him.

    Extreme self loathing coupled with crazy religion he got from his batshit father. But it wasn't ISIS or jihad or even Islam. It was just a crazy man who can buy a weapon of mass destruction. Because of Republican bowing down to their own crazy god, money.

    Surely you don't think "a well regulated militia" means every nut job should have an assault rifle. Because that's what they advocate. And right now, that is what Republicans believe the law should allow. Well, they believe in the cash the gun manufacturers are putting in their back pocket.

    The military thrives off Christian America to fight all their senseless wars in the middle east that cost 5 million Muslims lives and counting. God is far too busy blessing America, obviously. Very few look at what's happening in the middle east and consider it genocide because it's not 2116. People will look back at this time in history and call it what it actually is, I'm sure.

    It is genocide. These Republican warriors have killed more Americans than Osama bin laden, too. The correct response to 911 would have been a police action to one by one take out first Osama and his comrades, then the Saudi's that financed him, then to have squeezed Afghanistan. But the Neocons love to play with the military and send over the Forest Gumps of Alabama to be maimed and die killing hundreds of thousands. Sure, the disgusting regimes in the middle east are also genocidal, but it isn't always our problem.

    No, that's not what they advocate. That is a strawman argument.

    Here is the law of the land at the federal level:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_Control_Act_of_1968It shall be unlawful for any person to sell or otherwise dispose of any firearm or ammunition to any person knowing or having reasonable cause to believe that such person—
    (1) is under indictment for, or has been convicted in any court of, a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year;
    (2) is a fugitive from justice;
    (3) is an unlawful user of or addicted to any controlled substance (as defined in section 102 of the Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 802));
    (4) has been adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution;
    (5) who, being an alien— (A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States; or (B) except as provided in subsection (y)(2), has been admitted to the United States under a nonimmigrant visa (as that term is defined in section 101(a)(26) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101 (a)(26)));
    (6) who [2] has been discharged from the Armed Forces under dishonorable conditions;
    (7) who, having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced his citizenship;
    (icon_cool.gif is subject to a court order that restrains such person from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner of such person or child of such intimate partner or person, or engaging in other conduct that would place an intimate partner in reasonable fear of bodily injury to the partner or child, except that this paragraph shall only apply to a court order that— (A) was issued after a hearing of which such person received actual notice, and at which such person had the opportunity to participate; and (B) (i) includes a finding that such person represents a credible threat to the physical safety of such intimate partner or child; or (ii) by its terms explicitly prohibits the use, attempted use, or threatened use of physical force against such intimate partner or child that would reasonably be expected to cause bodily injury; or
    (9) has been convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

    Since 1998, gun purchases from firearms dealers have to go through the NICS system. ALL firearms dealers (FFL holders,) ALL THE TIME. Sales between individuals are less restrictive based on where you are. AND OF COURSE, the black market, where most criminals get there guns, isn't regulated at all.

    The issue is that the mental health records aren't consistently collected and entered into the system from every state. Add on top of that, not every "nut job" has been "adjudicated as a mental defective or has been committed to any mental institution." And what is your definition of a "nut job," what language is the legislation supposed to use?

    And I can tell you from personal experience, I can shoot just as fast and as many bullets from my Glock 19, as my AR15. Both are just as controllable. Only slows down a little if using 10 round magazines or 30 round magazines (available for both weapons) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCSySuemiHU

    And absolutely none of those weapons has any place in a civilized society. You're absolutely right-- there's no way you can keep track of crazies before they do their damage. The only solution is to limit the damage they do by outlawing the weapons that have no valid purpose in society except to kill large numbers of people. Military weapons. And as the Supreme Court just said, that is OK to do. And should be done. Republicans just need to stop putting cash over American's lives.

    For fuck's sake, the founders and Constitution were talking about musket balls NOT semi-automatic weapons. Get a grip girl.

    It's pretty blatant. The same Saudi's that financed Osama are the one's financing ISIS. The US media of course promotes ISIS like a brand knowing damn well ISIS kills mostly other Muslims at the end of the day. The more dead Muslims the merrier. Any country interested in the oil/gas pipelines in Syria WOULD fear monger its citizens into believing ISIS is a threat to our national security. All these Republicans living in fear of Islam swearing there's an attack on Christianity truly are the Islamic Terrorists biggest motivators.
