So, Resident Evil 7 is coming out next year, and I'm pretty excited by what I've seen of it sofar. Might just have to buy myself a PS4 for it.

Just thought I'd ask if there are any other Resident Evil fans on RJ, and which game is your favourite? You can discuss the movies as well if ya like.

Played the demo last night and I had that feeling I did when I played the original 20 years ago. I was giggling and terrified at the same time. One of the rare times I felt scarred being alone at home at night.

I haven't seen anything combat related about RE7 yet, from what I've seen so far there's a lot of searching for items and going back and forth, which is what was missing from RE6. I thought 6 was the worst RE game ever made, so I'm glad this one looks nothing like it!

Huge Resident Evil fan here. I actually played the demo on PS4, I don't hate it, but generally speaking the atmosphere is completely different than what I was expecting. It almost feels like they took everything from the Silent Hills PT and remade it with a Resident Evil concept. I'm also not a fan of the fact that they're bringing in new characters . However though it does look interesting and I'm glad they're making a new game, so I don't want to make any hasty judgements.

To be honest, I think that constantly bringing back the old characters is what ruined the franchise. It was scary when we saw Chris and Leon fighting zombies for the first time in the mansion or Raccoon City and they didn't know what was happening, but once it became their day job to go out and fight hordes of monsters, it became tedious and too action orientated. I thought the Outbreak games were great because it was a familiar situation but with all new characters, and they were regular civilians not specially trained soldiers. Of course it would be nice if they bring back at least one old character as a suporting cast member who helps out the new characters, but keeping it fresh seems like a good idea.
