Ya, I saw that. I've been perplexed why so little attention was given to the many stories floating about of his frequent times with drag queens and earlier reported multiple times he's been in this and other gay bars, too. It was clear he was just nuts and all the Republicans could do was scream ISIS and blame Obama. How pathetic Republicans are. And before they bitch that Dems have jumped on guns, it was the gun that made it carnage instead of a much reduced tragedy. As I read somewhere, there's a reason why our madmen shoot up rooms of people and all other major countries' madmen don't. It's the guns.

Thanks for the article OP, however, I'm not buying it. The problem with this story is that first it strains common sense by portraying Mateen as "sweet." There's a background issue of the alleged lover being significantly older AND unattractive. Intergenerational relationships are great, as are relationships where a person is considered 'hot' by society and another is 'average' or 'not good looking.' But it certainly isn't the norm. Compound all of this with the fact that the alleged lover presented NO EVIDENCE. In this day and age, we do not communicate by carrier pigeon and smoke signals. Even homeless poor people have prepaid cell phones. IF this story were true, the guy would be able to show TEXTS via Grindr, Scruff or regular SMS text message coordinating meeting times, probably sexting and sending pics, etc.

    No evidence? Not buying it.

I totally respect the opinions of the three gentlemen who have contributed to this thread thus far and agree, in part, with all three. I think that SVNW has the strongest point in that there would have to be some trail of evidence of a relationship in this totally electronic age we live. I also hear the point that Destin is making in that the Republicans are blaming Obama as they do for everything. They (the Republicans) are missing the rumors of the man's sexuality. Rather than blame ISIS, they could be blaming that the whole ordeal was caused due to having homosexual tenancies. They seem to miss so many opportunities. If course, if they came to that conclusion, they would have to utter the LGBT phrase which so far they have had a difficult time mentioning.

Unrequited love is the most tragic love there is and in our community, that seems to occur so often. Not loving ourselves is a form of unrequited loves as well. Anyone who takes lives away must be unhappy with life itself as he/she knows it. Perhaps the man claiming to be the ex-lover was simply rejected at some point by the shooter. I'm sure we will hear many more stories but doubt very seriously if we will ever know the truth.

I'd also have to see the proof.

From my last most wonderful bud, I have 10 years of all our online communications. Every email, Every forum chat. Every instant message (that was back in the early aol days), which with when not together--and that was for years a long distance relationship--was pretty much every day. I didn't even do it on purpose or anything. Just a thing I did. And I'll never forget into our relationship about 7, 8 or 9 years, whatever it was, something came up and we both realized we'd both been doing the same thing. He'd kept all our conversations too.

Oh crap. I so fucking miss him I can't stand it.

Come on, unless that is a entire prosthetic head piece, look at the size of that guys neck, shoulders and hand. Def large, bouncer type body builder "white guy", speaking Spanish with extreme muscles, not really "Omar's type"? He looks more like a undercover security agent, FBI, CIA, HS or Defense Dept. Neptune is retrograde, whoever this is, made up story, "ex lover", he cant hide his large, physical appearance, who probably speaks English, def looks like professional movie studio make up with a rubber nose/mustache attachment icon_rolleyes.gif

I believe the club goers that saw Omar in Pulse several times, probably casing the joint. On the gay apps? possibly, but we know how people can create sock puppet accounts and or use other peoples photos as their own. This man and "ex lover" in disguise? probably not, not sure why someone would do this just to deflect internal blame on the gay community, hmmmm icon_confused.gif

FBI investigators say they have found no evidence that Orlando shooter had gay lovers
    http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-orlando-gay-fbi-20160623-snap-story,amp.html

Since the shooting at an Orlando nightclub last week that left 49 people dead, reports have emerged that gunman Omar Mateen frequented the gay club, used gay dating apps and had gay lovers.

But the FBI has found no evidence so far to support claims by those who say Mateen had gay lovers or communicated on gay dating apps, several law enforcement officials said

Several Pulse regulars have come forward in the days since the shooting, claiming to have seen Mateen at the club or to have been contacted by him on the gay dating apps Grindr, Jack’d and Adam4Adam.

On Tuesday, Univision aired a report in which “Miguel,” a man wearing a disguise to conceal his identity, alleged he had sex with Mateen after meeting him on the gay dating app, Grindr. He said Mateen had sex with other men too, including a threesome with a Puerto Rican who allegedly told Mateen, after having had unprotected sex with him, that he was HIV positive.

But investigators do not consider the man’s account credible, according to one senior law enforcement official with access to the investigation.

So far, they have found no photographs, no text messages, no smartphone apps, no gay pornography and no cell-tower location data to suggest that Mateen — who was twice married to women and had a young son — conducted a secret gay life, the officials said.
