Why is the Republican National Convention a gun free zone? Shouldn't everyone attending be carrying a gun to be extra safe?

The thinking is that carrying a gun makes ME safer. The implications for those around me don't matter to me.   icon_rolleyes.gif

If Everyone Having A Gun Makes Us Safer?

Strawman argument, nobody is saying everyone should have a gun.

isnt the argument that a carrier could prevent a tragedy by shooting a rampaging murderer, or protect themselves from being sitting ducks? so they should be allowed everywhere at all times?

Or is it that the republican party ADMITS that their members are gun nuts who shoot people.

Well apparently in Texas they doicon_rolleyes.gif, even when a mother is diagnosed with depression and going through a divorce they have a gun in the house....she calmly calls a family meeting pulls a gun, kills her two daughters, let the husband live to suffer seeing his daughters killed, and then police kill the mother when she refused to let go of the weapon, so yes gun makes us safericon_rolleyes.gif

Why did Chief Hypocrite Obama sign a law to give himself armed Secret Service protection with assault weapons for the remainder of his life?

So it's OK for Obama to have assault weapons but no one else.

I can't believe 2 people have compared protection for the President (be it Obama or Bush) by trained professionals to civilians being allowed to carry guns almost at will.

Even though the arena has a no-guns policy, many Republican delegates are already planning to bring their loaded weapons to the convention events outside the arena. Protesters outside the arena can also carry loaded weapons -- in fact, Ohio is an "open carry" state, thanks to GOP legislators.

What could go wrong, right? icon_rolleyes.gif

By the way, I find it funny that protestors cannot carry tennis balls or umbrellas, but deadly weapons loaded with ammunition is fine!

Well no... it is not at will.

Obama and Bush are protected by civilian government employees. Explain yourself. Why is my life less important?

Would it be OK if I hired a dozen pros to protect me? Maybe I already am a pro and the last question was merely rhetorical?

Members of the US Secret Service are NOT civilians. Even if they do wear dark suits while on Presidential Security Duty. Nice try at confusing the issue.

You might as well call all law enforcement officers "civilians". Or FBI agents, who wear civilian clothing. And US Federal Marshals, who often wear civilian.

Try using the word "public" instead of "civilian" and see how far your phony argument flies. icon_razz.gif
