    Interesting. I'd heard of the theory that a collapsing universe shot through a singularity and thus the big bang but this doesn't do that. It uses quantum repulsion or the energy/matter flux to stop the collapse and restart expansion, as I understand it. Interesting.

    That would just change the "date" of the origin of our universe.

    The idea that the universe is expanding, is mis-understood and mis-explained. The universe is only what is observable from where we are. That's what is meant by the idea of "universe" in the cosmological sense.

    In our sense, we think of the universe as being everything. That's not what they are talking about here. It would help if we just went back to calling it "the known universe" because that's what they are talking about, except when people here "universe" they think everything, which is why the idea of expansion doesn't make sense to most people. "how can everything expand, isn't it already everything?"
