Try telling that to the dozen or so killed or injured by a suicide bomber in Kabul, or, the thousands fleeing Mosul as Peacekeeping forces try recapture it from ISIS. Not to mention those in Munich who have lost loved ones by the trigger happy act, of a deranged 18 year old. Yes we need to keep our chin up in these trying turbulent times. But it is somewhat difficult.

Also try being all cheery when after doing all the right things in life you are still stuck in low wage, dead end employment due to supply side trickle down economics, free trade agreements, and the increasingly unrealistic expectations of most employers today.

People who complain endlessly about how awful the US is have not experienced life outside the US. I have. We could malign the US as much as we want, but I can tell you from personal experience that the US is far better than virtually every country in the world, especially those countries that are governed by megalomaniac despots. The US is certainly not perfect, but I challenge you to live in parts of Eastern Europe, Africa, or Southeast Asia, and then tell me how that compares with life in the US.

Plummet yourself to the bullshit and pain that tons of people experience, understand how to truly empathize with some of the darkest experiences some people go through such as rape and torture, and then if on the other side you can still feel positive after taking in all of that chaos, then your twitter link may be relevant; until you do that, your post is simply an empty platitude.

So much for unicorn land, until a bullet cross ur head. Hello, the world is on the brink of destruction, some still close their eyes and pretend to be blind.

Yet people think it's their right and duty to vote for greedy pathological liars that could care less about our well being as citizens of the present and future. You people set yourselves up and call people like me "cynical" for not wanting take part of a vile tradition that further breaks the system.

If you want to focus on the good of the world then strip away your egotistic patriotism/nationalism or religion. Look at yourself as a citizen of earth fighting for the good of all... These wars will continue to go on as long as we allow ourselves to be separated by borders, religion and lies told by your government.

You are absolutely correct on this one. In addition to clearing out our government of the entrenched, crooked, political establishment both democratic and republican, we need to stop worrying about the rest of the world and start worrying and reinvesting in the USA. We need to stop being so wasteful and taking everything for granted. We need to change our development patterns in this country by ending our unnecessary and unsustainable preference for car centric suburban sprawl and return back to both the central cities and the old first ring suburbs who have suffered the brunt of decline, disinvestment, and abandonment for the past 40+ years. We need to take care of our own people rather than allowing in more poor, uneducated immigrants. From the streets of Detroit, Flint, Gary, and Baltimore to the rugged mountains and hollows of Appalachia and the Ozarks, there are our fellow Americans struggling and starving and not even getting by. Why not help these poor folks out first and invest in their troubled locales rather than sending more money to third world dictatorships. We need to rebuild our crumbling, decrepit existing infrastructure rather than waste money on more new infrastructure to service unneeded new suburban subdivisions out in the middle of nowhere. We need to invest in education for our future generations rather than waste so much tax money supporting Friday night high school football along with all the unnecessary bureaucracy in the schools. We need to yank all the public subsidies for the military industrial complex, prison industrial complex, and professional sports leagues especially the NFL which is probably the nation's largest corporate welfare recipient. Until we do all these needed reforms, nothing is going to change for the better.
