nearly 100% (there are rare exceptions) of the gay guys that look like realjocks are neurotic, selfish assholes in person... totally self-absorbed and lacking any empathy or compassion.

let's be honest: are you a realjock in person, or is all this a facade?

i personally feel that i am a selective realjock in person. i can be exactly like i make myself out to be online, or i can be completely not, depending on how comfortable i am around other people. though i prefer to think i'm on my realjock game more than not, i am not going to say that i've never fallen short of whatever the realjock ideal is that we've cultivated as an online community.

so... be honest. how real of a realjock are you?

Completely. We've never tried out a persona. *blush*

A realjock? Well, we're not into sports that much, but like the great outdoors and have 12ft kayaks that are nearly worn out.

What really is a realjock? Really? I can bench you, you can deadlift my family? What is a realjock? We are not the stereotype? And thus become the OTHER stereotype? I am not gay! But I suck cock but I am not gay! I only get hardon's with guys in the shower, but I am not gay, so I am a realjock?

Please. A real jock to me is another gay man that is completely comfortable in his own skin. That can go with friends to a sports bar and not need to Scream out he is gay, but if someone asks he can say hey yeah, I am. That can ride a motorcycle in the mud and have fun, or not. That can dress up for a wedding. Or down for a bbq. That has the balls to say to anyone in any situation, "yes, I am", and not feel either the need to hide it or promote it.

A realjock has confidence. He does not feel the need to "prove" himself. He has a strong sense of self. He is not Straight in one situation then Gay in another. Because it does not matter. He is himself always, no matter the situation.

I personally don't think I look like a realjock, and I am certainly not gifted in the athletic ability department, but in terms of how I come across in the forums? Yes that is pretty much who I am. I am not here to find a boyfriend or a fuck buddy, just here to meet new friends and engage in some interesting discussions.

I don't have the memory or mental energy to be different online than I am in person.

I am the same person in most facets of my life. I am the same honest, outspoken, confident, asshole everyone has come to love me as! The only place I curtail some of myself is at work. I know what a young "professional" is supposed to be like so I go with that. I understand my place in the circle of professional life. One day I will run this shit, but for now I have to be a good boy and take it like a man!

I'm not quite sure what you mean by a "realjock," but I do participate in a tough sport where you get the crap knocked out of you and do the same to you.

I've also enjoy running and hiking and have even done a half-marathon.

Honestly, I don't even consider myself a "jock" because I think the term is used way too much to refer to someone who "looks hot" and not necessarily someone who likes sports or lives an active lifestyle.

I'm basically the worst person in the world - the persona I have on here? Total fake. I kill ants in real life. Kick cats. Scream at Yugos. It's awful.

I wouldn't define myself as a "jock" - one who does, does tend to personafie what DJ is describing.
I do work at keeping fit, I do enjoy sports - but I'm not some great jock!!
I think I actually tend to surprise people by who I really am...
Most seem to "assume" I would be stuck-up, snobish, pretentious and I am way too laid back for that drama, thanks.

so in the realm of DJ's definition of a realjock... I'm a whimp icon_cry.gif

but just don't FUCK with me icon_twisted.gif
    cuz I'm far from weak...

The only difference between the person I am here (online) and the person in the flesh is that 'in person' I'm far more shy.

My profile is a 'tip of the iceberg' overview. Not misleading, not too deep in description, and not who I want to be, but rather who I am.

So...does it make me a realjock? I'll leave that to others to determine.

Jock to me = a high school label used to describe the male football, basketball, baseball crowd and to a lesser degree soccer, lacrosse, rugby, hockey, and select events in track and field (the field events and sprints). The jocks were people who played, and excelled at one or more of these sports Someone who excelled at tennis, ran anything over 400 m on the track or ran cross country, and rowed on the crew team would probably not be considered a jock.

At my high school, the women had a boat who won a National championship. Sweet right? They barely got any recognition except for a "good job" but when the football team made it to state (and lost), the whole place erupted with enthusiam.

In terms of me, I'm pretty much the same in person as I am online. If I have knowledge or experience with a topic, or I feel I can get a laugh (though I don't really goof around much on here) I'll say something. If I don't have knowledge or experience, then I'll observe, and hope to learn something new. I can be kind of shy both on here and offline.

I also run competitively, play sports, lift weights, and do yoga. I also love to be outdoors hiking, camping etc. But I do them because they are things I enjoy doing, and not because I'm trying desperately to live a label.

The reason why I think you've had the experiences you've had with "real jocks" in real life is because there's something in the drinking water in this city that makes people wreak of pretentiousness. But it also could be that they define themselves on the outside, so there's not as much of a need to do any work on the inside unfortunately. They don't have to self evaluate because they're constantly getting reinforcement from outside influences.

I don't have the creativity to invent an internet personality. What you read is what you get. Besides, the voices in my head wont allow another personality in. Yes we will. No we wont. Shut up! No you shut up!

I'm just me - the same guy wherever I am. I like the product just fine - not to say I'm perfect - but I try to work hard, play hard, and treat everybody just as I would like to be treated.

I dunno what a RealJock is. I've been athletic all my life, less so now as I age, yet I've never participated in team sports. But even at 60 & disabled, I recently rode 165 miles on a bicycle down to Key West, to raise money for AIDS charities. I'm far from being a physical wimp or coward (or so I hope).

    http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/346944/

As for personality characteristics, the OP mentions lacking compassion. In what context? If you confront & endanger me, I will destroy you. No half-way measures, no negotiations, you will simply be zapped. That's what the military taught me, what I'm best at doing. And trust me, I have the resources, and no guilt.

But if you define compassion in terms of helping needy people, then I do that, too. Most of my retired time is now spent helping the needy, and a good portion of my income goes to those purposes. I lack for nothing that matters to me, so I give my surplus money to those who have less. What would I save it for, anyway? I have everything I need, while others have nothing. And given a choice, I choose our gay needy first.

So I have no idea whether I'm a RealJock in "real life." I suppose most here would judge me a bastard and a loser. I'm neither young nor pretty, nor a Superman in the gym. But I do more for our gay community than any random dozen RJ members, for all their proud talk. Lots of talk here, not much action.

So again I wonder, what is RealJock, and what is real life?
