If my bf or one of my besties did that to me, he'd be leaving the room without his front teeth. Just too dangerous and juvenile.

I'm not too keen on many pranks, especially when cruel or overly physical. A more benign & gentle practical joke can be OK.

Aside from giving this guy an emotional shock and apparently hurting him physically, a soaking mess must have been made on that mattress. Sparkling wine or Champagne can have a substantial sugar content, and would take a lot of work to remove from the mattress cover & padding. Otherwise an unpleasant odor problem could develop, ruining a costly investment.

No, not a nice prank in my opinion, and not something I would do to anyone.

I'm not too keen on playing pranks on people that cause physical pain.

Emotional trauma or psychological pain, now that's a different story.
