The writer of the opinion piece was Michael Morell. He is currently affiliated with Beacon Global Strategies, a consulting firm with ties to senior Democrats with national security expertise, including former defense secretary and CIA director Leon Panetta and former top Clinton aide Philippe Reines.

Morell did not provide evidence for his assertion, but he said Putin had used skills from his past as an intelligence officer to identify and exploit vulnerabilities in an individual.

The OP's article says he's an unwitting agent.

Trump does seem to play into Putin's hand.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/article/2016/aug/04/did-trump-campaign-soften-platform-language-benefi/While the original version of the Republican Party platform is not public and unavailable, news outlets reported that it contained language that included arming Ukraine in its fight against Russia. The version that passed, however, softened the language, saying America will provide "appropriate assistance" to Ukraine and "greater coordination with NATO defense planning."

When Meet the Press host Chuck Todd asked Trump campaign adviser Paul Manafort about how much influence Trump in changing the platform, Manafort denied any involvement. (Read about Manafort’s connections to pro-Russian Ukrainian politicians here).

Todd then asked where the idea came from, and added, "Everybody on the platform committee had said it came from the Trump campaign. If not you, who?"

Finally, Todd pressed the matter, asking if anyone on the Trump campaign wanted that change, to which Manafort answered: "No one, zero."

So did Trump and his campaign influence the change? It’s hard to know for sure, and that’s why we’re avoiding putting this question on the Truth-O-Meter. But the evidence does suggest that Trump’s campaign was involved...

'Unwitting agent' is the key term.
Trump loves power and even more, TRUMP LOVES FLATTERY.
No wonder Putin finds him so easy to control.

What will they say about Trump next?

He's a step child of a black African illegal immigrant?

"What will they say about Trump next?"

Actually, Trump doesn't seem to be anything more than a dupe.

His chief campaign staff, Paul Manafort and Carter Page are the ones who have been and probably still are on Putin's payroll.

" Trump has sought and received funding from Russian investors for his business ventures, especially after most American banks stopped lending to him following his multiple bankruptcies.
Trump’s de facto campaign manager, Paul Manafort, was a longtime consultant to Viktor Yanukovich, the Russian-backed president of Ukraine who was overthrown in 2014. Manafort also has done multimillion-dollar business deals with Russian oligarchs."

" Another Trump foreign policy advisor, retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, flew to Moscow last year to attend a gala banquet celebrating Russia Today, the Kremlin’s propaganda channel, and was seated at the head table near Putin.
Flynn is a regular guest on Russia Today; he refuses to say whether he gets paid."

Donald Trump's own son admitted that the Trump business has major financial ties to Russian interests, in the form of loans and other payments.
Now Trump will not reveal his real financial information, keeping his taxes a secret when every other candidate reveals theirs. What is he hiding?
Why would we elect a President who may be financially obligated to support Russian interests over American interests?
Whose side is he on? There are a lot of unanswered questions.

This is just more ultra leftist hyperbole from the corrupt, incompetent Democratic Party. Go figure.

Besides that he's a lunatic, the big problem as I see it is his method of "creating wealth" for himself which seems to be by borrowing and then bankrupting. How would that not put him under the thumb of his backers be they the casino mob or the Russian mafia.

Or is there one person on the planet who can say for certain that he doesn't think tRump has someone's hand up his puppeT ass?

There's probably a DNC email we will soon see in Wikileaks.
