Man of the Day OR Coward of the Day?

For years I've barely paid attention to MOTD and maybe voted a couple of times. Out of curiosity today, I checked on the list of "Winners". I know it is a subjective thing. Some can win because they are so damn cute or have a big dick. But really, since this is Real Jock, they should also have a well-developed musculature much of the time. Most of them do.
However, what I can't understand is why anyone would vote for someone who does not dare to show their face. Should there not be some minimal requirement? MOST winners DID have face pics but I saw that many had none, including profiles with dozens of public and adult pics. Unless someone lives in Russia or Uganda or some other dangerous place, surely in this day and age where same-sex marriage is now legal throughout most of North America, we can expect gay men on a gay site, to be proud enough to show their face. Thoughts?

Please keep in mind that in 27 states, employment and housing discrimination against gays and lesbians is still lawful. So that could be a valid reason.

i know what the OP is trying to say but
a lot of profiles here on RJ are fake. I mean the fake accounts have fake accounts. They may be 13 years old or part of a collection of soc accounts. A while back a member took it on to himself to figure out the fake profiles and found out many were "WINNERS" and Man Of The Day.

yes you would expect gay men on a gay site to be out there.

Pull the tamp out and step down from your soapbox. This is Real Jock, not Model Mayhem. Calm down and enjoy the chiseled views. icon_cool.gif

Although, I really don't get today's decision. At all.

I'm not sure how this MOTD thing works because I've never really paid attention. However, it is my understanding that people are nominated by others. In other words, most, if not all, are not out there nominating themselves or campaigning to become MOTD. That being the case, I wouldn't judge them for not posting their face pictures. If we're looking to judge someone, perhaps we should judge the people voting for them.

Of COURSE they should show their faces. EVERYONE should. NON-NEGOTIABLE. There is no longer any reason to hide. Many will say there are good reasons, but those people are absolutely WRONG.

Anyone in the US afraid to show their face is a coward unless still dependent upon asshole parents for survival.

I agree there are many fake accounts and it is funny when you see a bunch of photo comments about their fake accounts.

Perhaps a bit harsh. In roughly half of US States you can legally lose your job or be evicted from your apartment for being gay. Family relationships may also be jeopardized by being recognized as gay.

And as far as pictures online, I've put my facial pics in Private mode here. Nothing to do with gay; hell, I've led or marched in gay pride parades for years. Spoken before TV cameras about gay issues, written printed articles, etc, so being known as gay is not my concern.

Rather, privacy and various forms of online identity theft are the reason. I've already had my image stolen a few times (gawd only knows why). So I have no issue with guys who conceal their faces on RJ in one way or another.

At the same time, I'm not sure the hidden should be eligible to compete for MOTD. A face is an essential part of the person, and I won't vote for a torso alone, no matter how hunky it is.

Don't you have more important things to wonder about than wonder why someone else is wondering about something? icon_cool.gif

That was lame even for you Radd.

It doesn't take a whole lot of wondering to write a single sentence in response to a long diatribe about lack of face pics when his main pic is of his back. Seems sour grapes for not having won MOTD?

Not really. I don't think it's fair to give it to guys with no face pics either. And I've won MOTD so no "sour grapes" here.

I get your meaning. I asked the same question to the 'very helpful' RJ Support Team, as I had noticed that verified members also have main profile pics with no face. The rules of being able to be verified are: A face pic with the letters 'Real Jock 123' the accompanying profile pic must match the verification pic. I think RJ Support just likes bending their own rules. I once decided to change my profile pic, and was instantly unverified. So I had to do the whole verification thing over. The mind boggles.

Perhaps it's due to being private, ego, or just not them unless they are evaluated of coarse. Many people vote on these men die to personal preferences I would imagine.

It doesn't necessarily have to be about hiding their sexuality. Some people avoid showing their faces because of their job - they don't want to be seen on a certain website by clients and co-workers and employers. If a man wants to keep his online activity separate from every other aspect of his personal life, that's entirely his decision.

Besides, if you're that interested in someone, you can simply send a private message asking if you can see his face, and if he likes you enough, he might just do so.

Oh please. We've had worse MOTD winners. One time there was a guy that was headless AND he had some very scathing things to say about femme gays. I don't care so much about the discreet guys, but it just amazes me that guys on this site vote for douchebags only because they have nice bodies.

I think the issue isn't so much if people choose to be discreet or not.
It's whether someone without a face - and in some cases with a virtually blank profile - should win the "honor".

But it's a bit like complaining that Trump was elected [heaven forbid] when he's not qualified.
Maybe you should have gone out and voted for Hillary....

Think someone is more worthy? Vote for them!

I think the truth is that most people don't really care, and a cursory look showed that some recent winners weren't even active users anymore.

Also, only 5 of the last 20 didn't have a face in their main profile pic.
