Hello. I am looking for advice for a leg workout without squats.
Lately I am having pain in my knees when I squat. I got it also when doing leg presses or lunges. So in general I can do only leg extentions and exercises for hamstrings.
Do you know some other exercises for quads, no squats included? Thank you.

I haven't done squats in years, and in fact I don't work legs in the gym at all anymore.

The best workout I know for quads is running stairs - and I mean running, two at a time, preferably about four stories per set. Do em until your legs are completely fried - which won't be long. It does not stress your knees at all.

I've been doing that workout twice a week for 25 years, 21 sets in about a half hour. You can check my pics and decide for youself if it's working.

You can protect your knees in few ways. Knee wraps and compression tights help. Half squats and half lunges don't stress the knees as much as full ones. Farmer Walks (you hold 2 dumbbells and walk partially lunging). Stiff legs (YouTube it) work the hamstrings. Bicycling with clip less pedals work quads and hams if you put force on the down stroke and the upstroke.
