Very nice. But of course a non-journalist entertainer like O'Reilly will never admit to a failing. Same as Trump. A non-politician entertainer.

As for dumbing down journalism, both the liberals and conservatives are equally to blame.icon_wink.gif

Anyone who thinks Rachel Maddow's show is dumb should check his or her sanity. Here's some info for you on Maddow: she earned a degree in public policy at Stanford in 1994 where she was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship. She was also the recipient of a Rhodes Scholarship and began her postgraduate study in 1995 at Lincoln College, Oxford. In 2001, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) in politics at the University of Oxford.

Rachel Maddow is very intelligent and she often provides in depth investigative reporting. That being said, she is still part of the MSM and I'm sure that anything thing she says is first approved by the management above her. MSM controls the message to protect themselves and their advertisers. They all do it. And our Democratic (representative) system pays a huge price because of it.

I think that is a false equivalency with FOX and Breitbart. I've never seen any interview with her that suggests she doesn't have full control of her content. Same for Chris Mathews. It's too easy to just say they all do it when in fact, it is a specialty of the Right. Controlling Democrats is like herding cats. Always has been and that's why Republicans get elected.

I have seen her do it a couple of times during this election season. I did not keep the proof of it. The next time I catch her, I will try and post it. Seriously, anyone that works for MSM does it, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ABC, CBS, even PBS. They all do it and everyone should be aware that they all do it. Every single source of MSM needs to maximize their profits/revenues and protect their advertisement sources. They protect their self interest. And that should not surprise anyone.

It's been for guys like Koppel and Buckley and now their new guy Shapiro who have kept me from completely disrespecting Republicans. I certainly don't like everything they say, I might find from my perspective flaws to their thinking but they are for the most part (well, Buckley had a humor about him which I totally enjoyed) honest in their approach and thorough in their argumentation.

Even as a kid I used to love watching the Vidal/Buckley debates. Koppel's Nightline I watched very frequently, thought it was completely excellent & I recall being sad when he ended his time there.

So I may post anti-GOP on rare occasion, but it should be noted that I consider their viewpoint and while I don't tolerate their maniacs, I do respect their actual thinkers. Koppel is a guy who thinks. He uses the brain God gave him and I love that, even when he's on the wrong side of an argument.

These other schmucks, I've very little tolerance for. Kudo's to Koppel for keeping his cool and not throwing a banana cream pie, though that's always fun.
