Trolling experts offer tactics for dealing with ‘the world’s most effective button-pusher’, like meeting tantrums with facts

According to those with expertise in trolling (academics and online community managers who spend their days stamping out his sort of behavior), the model of Trump’s polemical strategy doesn’t hark back to Kennedy and Reagan, but to prolific trolls like @nero and Violentacrez. If they are right, the presidential campaign is going to increasingly sound like an out-of-control thread on Reddit [or RJ]. But their diagnosis isn’t one of despair. Just as trolls are persistent, their opponents in public discourse have worked out effective ways of taking them on. And, experts say, the lessons of online comment culture could well apply to Hillary Clinton’s strategy for taking on the Donald.

Thanks! A wonderful insight into how the rest of world outside the US views Trump - like a 3-dimentional Internet troll!

Which suggests how to deal with him. Not to mention with his equally demented supporters.

I know the rest of the world thinks we've lost our minds with Trump. Something we don't totally appreciate in our US media bubble here. And maybe some of us have gone bat-s***-crazy. But at least this suggests there's still some residual sympathy for us in some corners of the world, who wish us well in our trial ahead.

    And so thanks again!

Oh, so I'm supposed to click ignore? Gee. Why didn't I think of that 170 clicks ago.

I actually think of him more as the Norse Troll

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll#Norse_mythologyIn Old Norse sources, trolls are said to dwell in isolated mountains, rocks, and caves, sometimes live together (usually as father-and-daughter...), and are rarely described as helpful...

...The Prose Edda book Skáldskaparmál describes an encounter between an unnamed troll...

Old Norse:..........................Anthony Faulkes translation....................John Lindow translation
auðsug jǫtuns,..........................giant's wealth-sucker......................wealth sucker [?] of the giant,

...the term is used to denote various beings, such as a jötunn or mountain-dweller, a witch, an abnormally strong or large or ugly person, an evil spirit, a ghost, a blámaðr, a magical boar, a heathen demi-god, a demon, a brunnmigi, or a berserker.

Social media trolling is a two-way street. I suppose you could fight trolls with trolls, like fighting bullies with bullies. I still believe in what Michelle Obama said during the Democratic convention: when they go low, we go high. However, I think sometimes you need to break a few necks to get your message across.

both parties spend billion$ of private funds as PAC and super PAC political organizations. I really question any thing you read this close to election time unless well its is aligned to your point of view.

Trump as the first 3 dimensional troll, has conducted an effective campaign on a shoe string. Only because otherwise there is low existent support. He gets the under educated peeps to wear an initially made in Vietnam hat.
