I've been saying all along that Trump's long-range plan didn't include running for president of the US. His main objective was to become a successful businessman and to amass ridiculous wealth no matter the cost. Accordingly, he wasn't particularly careful in his business dealings. Now his past is catching up with him. We've already seen that Trump's business empire is a maze of debts and questionable ties. Now we're learning that he was involved in "greenmailing"--a practice where he would buy a sizable chunk of a company's stock, then induce that company to buy it back at a premium to avoid a takeover. So, in buying a chunk of the target company, Trump's true intention was not to invest, but rather to gain an unfair advantage and make a quick buck at the expense of other stockholders/investors. Indeed, thousands of employees lost their jobs as a result. This practice was considered quite dirty by responsible investors, and it's no longer commonly practiced. So this guy who claims that he's a successful billionaire appears to be nothing more than an opportunistic corporate thief.

He did similar in the Sunshine State at Mar a Lago. The Post estate had been willed to Florida or to the Nation, whichever. But it was too costly to upkeep so they put it up for auction. He offered I think $20plus million whatever it was which they declined, thinking it lowball. If I remember back then everyone thought it would sell in the mid/high 30s but I might be misremembering that.

So he bought the beach front property directly in front of the estate and threatened to build a wall, a huuuuuuge ugly ass house in front of the storied estate, blocking its direct ocean view, driving the asking down to his purchase price of $5 million.

And if he was running against Joe Biden he wouldn't have a chance. But he's not.

President Clinton will see you all at her inauguration in January 2017, and again in January 2021.
