So i take RJ as a good demographic of what the gay community thinks - as we have such diversity.

    So...

Why the fuck is the gay community (60% of RJ) so Whiny?

No wonder we are compared to PMS'ing woman... We are putting out this defeatist attitude!

"Im old/I'm fat./I come from a previously discriminated group of people."

Life is fucking tough AND NO ONE IS GOING TO GIVE YOU SHIT Just because feel they should.

    I'll put forth a hypothesis.

Few people go online to tell you that they are happy or doing well.

People do go online to reach out for support and maybe vent about their unhappiness or frustration. This may be counterproductive since some people have reactions that are "less than supportive," which fuels the unhappiness and creates hostility.

    Just my two cents,

I recall in day's gone bye, before political Correctness done it's damage. I and other's owned such words and terms as poof, poofter, fag, horses hoof, stamp licker, and held them in our fist with pride; my you say that as if it's a bad thing! But..........then political correctness came along and took our power away, and gave it back to the words and terms. Then the orgy of people being offended by everything began.

    Well put!
Trying to gauge what the gay community is all about based solely on those that are vocal here on RJ is pretty inaccurate.

What low-lifes like you don't realize is it isn't about being politically correct. It's about certain views no longer being considered acceptable in a progressive, modern society. And we will carry the day because you self-centered people will continue to be squashed by the march of progress towards enlightenment. Just quietly go back to licking your disgusting hurt feelings because people don't like your racism, xenophobia, and backward, ugly view of entitlement.

Well put, as always. But I'd add that PC is also shorthand for showing that you respect the other person even when you don't have time to know him/her; it's a way of not hurting people. Yes, it can go overboard, but it's also closely related to courtesy. If find that those who rant the most about PC are usually unimaginative and selfish people with no concept of simple good manner or sonsideration.

This is probably worthy of going from hypothesis to theory! "Internet anonymity" is something I found in this threat too, though, and I think that also plays a large part--saying something to someone's face is a lot different than typing it through a keyboard to people whom you don't encounter in the real world.

Gay community is a group of people that were victimized/discriminated against and still are to this day in other parts of the world just because of their sexuality. They don't want anyone to give shit, they just want to be without given shit,i mean being victimized or killed.

It isn't 60% of RJ. It's 60% of the people who participate in the forums, which is less than 1% of RJ. The whiny 1%.

So tipical of radical socialist leftards. Abuse those who view things diffrently to them. At least I had the balls to stand my ground, and show pride in Being a Bona Fide Homosexual, and not playing the victim. One did not personally abouse you, but you just could not help yourself. I have no doubt, you would not have the balls to say that to ones face, and you would simply suck it up, with one referring to oneself as a poofter, because I am what I am.

I find people who all too eagerly share their victimhood experiences to be some of the most unattractive people. It's one thing to get to know someone who will eventually trust you and then confide in you and talk about his or her skeletons in the closet. But there are people who so readily talk about it publicly. Those things are personal.

There are those who use their traumatic experiences as an excuse to pardon their socially inept and poor behavior. Those people are not set right and are, more often than not, manipulative. It's a blatant sign of retarded emotional development.

Thank goodness for there being a revolt against Political Correctness in the land of Oz, Down Under. One has started to take the power back to some of those words and terms. They don't hurt me, yes indeed I am a Poofter, a Bona Fide Homosexual, a homo. It all means the samething. One was born to only love and be with another man. So sick of this whining easily offended communities. Where people are bullied into saying sorry.

Depends. Some are seeking community, answers, and support. Others are just seeking attention and affirmation. In the same way a bunch of guys on here are all "woe is me" without making any steps to improve their situations ("I'm great as-is; why doesn't the perfect person want me?"), even more are basically just here to say "look at me; aren't I hot?". It's the gay equivalent of the duck-lipped selfie. Narcissism comes in many forms.

Do you think Gay stigma is gone? Do you think HIV stigma doesn't exist? PMS, are you a fucking idiot? You probably think Trump's "bleeding" comment was laughable. He's a misogynist, are you?
Sure we've made a lot of progress. But many states don't have LGBT protection for housing or assault.

You are right about one thing. No gives us anything. We have to work for it. I was protesting against Anita Bryant in 1977 in St Paul MN for equal rights. Our lives shouldn't be any tougher than for a straight person. And a black person's life should be any tougher than a white person's.

Timinps, i have no problem with awareness, and fighting for equality.

It was made apparent in the tone of my post that it was about complaining, not about fighting for awareness.

I am talkinng about victim complexes becoming fashion accesories.... which is disgusting. If you arent being victimized then you cant have a trendy RJ topic.

Its a blueprint for a perpeutal negativity machine

I recently had a friend try to commit suicide, when she asked why everyone was isolating her for the last year, one person answered.

"I was avoiding you because im depressed and i was in a worst state than you"

The pointed tone she used, i felt it implied "My issues trumps yours" and thats not appropirate this is where i feel like its become the "complex competition" (aka whos more fucked up) with the cash prize being affirmation and sympathy!

Once gay marriage passed in America, no thanks to Obama. One did ponder what will the socalist left whinge and whin about next? But as a True Blue Aussie, unable to marry I feel is wrong, because one should have the same rights as my siblings, and new commers to this Great Southern Land. But. ........as a Bona Fide Homosexual, one has no issues not being able to marry, as I see marriage as a form of pet registration, a license of ownership.

Agreed. lots of people use forums to vent about issues that are bothering them. Doesn't mean they don't have any happiness in their lives, doesn't mean they are negative about everything going on in their world, they just have something in particular to get off their chest, and probably not a lot of opportunities to discuss such issues offline . Yes, everyone has different kinds of struggles. Some people struggle with confidence. some people struggle with relationship troubles. some people worry about their age and weight and other insecurities and experiences they've had with discrimination. We can offer each other support and advice and understanding, or we can just ignore the posts we find depressing and move on to another subject. but calling people whiny is not exactly creating a more positive community either.
