Given the unpredictability, knowledge of the current, 'gnarly' astrological alignment and cycle, including the new moon solar eclipse on Thursday the 1st that will "set off the square energy", I would suggest we take this persons threats seriously. Take my word for it, I warned late last month, last two weeks of Aug thru Labor Day weekend, be on the look out.

This energy is very disruptive and deceptive

    Beware: Beach Bear 2016
    http://bearworldmagazine.com/beware-beach-bear-2016/

In a statement to his Facebook page Hunter’s Nightclub’s Mark Hunter said:

Let me clarify Hunters Fort Lauderdale’s position regarding The Beach Bear Weekend. We are not sponsoring the event. In the past, Hunters Fort Lauderdale has always sponsored and supported Beach Bear Weekend. Our commitment to the Bear Community has been long and dedicated. Hunters Nightclubs through the years has sponsored many Bear events both in Palm Springs and in Fort Lauderdale. Because of Beach Bears organizer, the late start date and lack of events offered by The Beach Bear Weekend this year we have decided not to sponsor this years Beach Bear Weekend. Several weeks ago we had asked the organizer to remove any reference to Hunters Fort Lauderdale from the Beach Bear Weekend’s website. We welcome any and all event goers to Hunters Fort Lauderdale.

Village Pub also released a similar statement:

Just to be clear, Village Pub has withdrawn its sponsorship of this year’s BeachBear event. Mr. Jungwirth, the owner/organizer of this event, was asked to remove our logo from the event page, but has refused. Village Pub is a proud supporter of the Bear Community in south Florida. As always, we welcome the patronage of any of its attendees, but do not feel that it is in the best interest of Village Pub to be a sponsor of the event under its current leadership.

Naturally this has been a big item of discussion here in Wilton Manors. I saw the original Facebook posts he did yesterday (Tue), before they were taken down.

In this video, the first guy at the Pride Center is their President/CEO. We saw him at lunch today. The other guy is the owner of a club, whom we also know, that was vandalized with spray paint by the Facebook poster, and who is now suing him for the damage. On the same full surveillance video he's also shown taking photos of his vandalism, late at night.

It's not clear why this guy is still running around free, if that's the case. Conflicting reports about whether he's been arrested in Orlando or not. He threatened a massacre worse than the Orlando "Pulse" nightclub for here in Wilton Manors over Labor Day. If he isn't detained by authorities then I think there may be some anxiety.

But most of us, who've known about him for years, assume he's a lone-wolf psycho. If he's detained then the threat is likely much reduced. Unless he has inspired some copycats.

What's especially strange and ironic is that he managed to make himself the head of a several-day "Beach Bears" gay event earlier this year. Which he totally botched, and it had to be cancelled. Now he presents himself as being virulently anti-gay. Most of us assume he's mentally deranged.

May be having trouble with the video. It appears in my Preview when I Submit, but then seems to disappear. icon_question.gif

I'm reading more into this, and the "Fort Lauderdale City Commissioner" who said this guy had been arrested in Orlando, apparently based on erroneous information, is our personal attorney! I won't name him here. How potentially embarrassing!

But this is what happens with breaking news stories. You've often gotta hold your comments, and wait until the dust has settled. Even if you're not the first out of the gate with "news". I've gotten burned myself a few times here that way.

So is the man in custody or not, wanted for questioning or has disappeared on the loose?

I do not know. My information is no better than yours.

But you gotta remember that Florida is a Red State, that has resisted enacting hate crime laws against LGBT. At most he might be charged with general menacing.

I had lunch today with one of the owners of Rumors bar, the place you saw in some of these videos. Not the guy who got intereviewed on camera. Rumors is the place this lunatic had spray-painted and took pictures of his damage. A year later that suit against him is still active.

I didn't really learn anything much I didn't already know. Nothing that isn't fairly accurately reported in the news.

Latest reports are that he's not in South Florida. I'm told (though it's hearsay) that he couldn't pay his rent here, and put his stuff into storage, no longer has a residence.

The police are reported to have "contacted" him in the Orlando area. Doesn't say if they interviewed him at length, and he's not been arrested. Sounds like they might have merely phoned him, not very clear. Wilton Manors says it will have extra police patrols through the Labor Day weekend, and will be aided by nearby Fort Lauderdale police and also county sheriff's deputies.

WestCoastJock saidI think that the city should pass a gun control laws. Then it would be illegal for someone to be threatening people with a gun.

It already is illegal. It's called assault.

I was in wilton manors last night and I was not aware of this threat until one of my friends told me about it. Honestly, it is a bit unnerving. In this day and age, one never knows. There's a lot of nut jobs out there filled with a lot of hate and they have easy access to guns, so there's really no stopping it from happeneing. But the clubs and bars I went to last night were pretty packed still, so .

You were in Wilton Manors last night??? I would gladly have met you, bought you some drinks, maybe dinner if you wanted. Me & my husband. Maybe you don't wanna meet me, but I'll meet almost any RJ members.

Regarding the threat, I don't see much difference in business, even at Rumors. Where the owner was videoed. Of course we usually only go to places during the day, more to have lunch than drink. Only at night if there's a good reason. So I dunno how the nights have been since this story broke. But I didn't hear anyone expressing concerns about it.

Why would a young guy want to have dinner with you and and 85 year old?

You keep deliberately making that error about his age, don't you SB? How clever of you.

He's 82. And likely more sharp witted than you could ever be. And based on your comments here, much smarter, too.

He's beloved locally, and it's ME who has to tag along, riding his coat tails in social situations. Everyone wants to talk with him, spend time with him. Me? I'm just: "Oh, and here's Bob". He's the local star, not me.

No one believes he's 82, thinking he's late 60s. What **I** am. So no, someone having dinner with us, or just drinks, I don't think they're gonna be disappointed by his age. Or hopefully not by mine, either.

I just invited my ex landlord over for dinner the other night and she's in her late eighties. She's sweet and kind and has more knowledge about life than I have in my little finger. She has the best stories of things she has done and I could listen to her talk for hours. You seem quite vapid (whoever you are.) To assume a person becomes worthless at a certain age makes me feel very sorry for you. Sorry for the wonderful people you're currently missing out on, but mostly because of the pain and agony you must go through as you dread growing older each day. If you truly think older people are worthless, it must be eating you up inside to know you're headed there quite rapidly yourself. So glad I don't think like you do.
