If you listen to what the Democrats say today it is clear how far to the left they have moved. Anyone wanting a wall, wanting to deport criminals, wanting to know the background before allowing entry is to these radicals racist and xenophobes. Far outside the mainstream. Look at the election in Germany.

NumbersUSA pulls quotes from Bill Clinton talking illegal immigration and the problem of border control and being a nation of laws from his 1996 State of the Union which shows a striking comparison to what presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been saying about the subject.

From Clinton's 1996 State of the Union address:

But there are some areas that the federal government should not leave and should address and address strongly. One of these areas is the problem of illegal immigration. After years of neglect, this administration has taken a strong stand to stiffen the protection of our borders. We are increasing border controls by 50 percent. We are increasing inspections to prevent the hiring of illegal immigrants. And tonight, I announce I will sign an executive order to deny federal contracts to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.

Let me be very clear about this: We are still a nation of immigrants; we should be proud of it. We should honor every legal immigrant here, working hard to become a new citizen. But we are also a nation of laws.

And that's why Democrats still maintain that illegal immigrants pay a $500 fine, amongst other things, including passing a background check, get deported if you have a felony and pay any back taxes owed before becoming an American citizen.

This is not amnesty, despite what Republicans call it.

What do you call sanctuary cities and opposing mandatory prison if a convicted aggravated felon returns after being deported?

In any event Bill Clinton sounds a lot like Trump. Must be racist and xenophobic.

I like the Democratic background check for Syrian refugees:

Q: OK, this is a serious question: Are you a terrorist?

A: No no Allah is great!

Q: OK we'll have to confirm that with our extensive database of the Syrian population (i.e. not so extensive). Checking to see if there are any red flags for what did you say the name was again, and what city did you come from?

A: Mohammad. Damascus. and again Allah is great!

Q: OK there is no Mohammad from Damascus on the DHS watch list - so come on in. We'll even resettle you and give you a job. Also a credit card so you can buy whatever chemicals you need. I see chemistry is your hobby. So have a good day.

Oranges and Lemons. Although similarly related, sanctuary cities do not address national immigration policy. And I was going to say that Trump does sound like Bill Clinton and the Democrats, other than the costly, impracticable mass deportations. But let's see if Trump supporters pick up on that... icon_rolleyes.gif

TEA Party Republicans derailed the bipartisan efforts to reform immigration policy. The efforts completely broke down by 2009 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_reform and Cantor lost a primary challenge in 2014 because of the TEA Party. So again, let's see how Trump supporters reconcile with the fact that Trump mostly advocates the same immigration reform efforts before the TEA Party derailed it.

Yeah, some of them are revoltingly homophobic, like this ass clown: http://samuel-warde.com/2016/06/republican-led-house-opens-morning-bible-reading-lgbt/
