what can you do when there's nothing you can do?
that's basically how I feel right now trying to better myself and my life, but its like everything is a dead end.

looking at the guys on here everyone seems happy and content with life and their achievements and career choices and everything basically while I'm just feeling so stuck like life's given up and I'm giving up, I'm so young to be feeling like this omg lol.

I guess why I joined RJ in the first place was to meet guys from all over and hear how awesome their countries and cities are, don't get me wrong cape town is amazing! but I'm over it basically.
I'll usually just start a conversation with a guy on here based on his location and where he's from and where he has been. (weird I know lol)

but all I want to do is travel be well established in the fashion industry and do what I'm passionate about! start over somewhere else experience something different than what I've been doing and seeing the past 24 years of my life.

its not like I want an easy or perfect life I just want one where I can enjoy it and wake up and feel good.

with this weak ass currency of south africa will I ever be able to travel on my income? i might as well just invest in a tv and watch travel channel all day long but oh well cheers x

Nothing will change unless you cause it to change. Sounds like you're blaming everyone else for your failures. Cape Town isn't good enough, guys are boring, currency too weak. You'd better grab your life by the balls and make it happen no matter how hard or you will end up a veg on the couch with the tv. Some guy from NZ won Project Runway a year or two ago and he came from nowhere with nothing. Just did it. You do it.

I reckon you should start here. Feeling good when you wake up in the morning doesn't have to mean you have a glamorous and exciting lifestyle, you can feel satisfied with your own life and still have ambitions.
People are going to say "if you want something go out and achieve it" but for some of us it takes little steps to get there. Moving to a new town or traveling to a foreign country, there are plenty of people who do that all the time, but for you it might be a big step. One that you're unsure about because it's outside your comfort zone. So I think rather than looking at big goals that you would like to achieve but seem really far away to you, try smaller goals. Having little victories here and there will increase your confidence and make you feel more in control of your life. Then before you know it, you'll be actively pursuing things that, right now, seem difficult and out of your reach.

Nice_chap has it right. It's the little victories that make the days brighter and better in the long-run. While for now it seems like nothing is going right and a complete life-overhall is the only solution, i say start with the small things first and take it from there. It might seem a less exciting option i know, but small changes in the life's mundane routine make for bigger, more meaningful steps down the road. And that's what it sounds like you're looking for to me, an escape from the monotony of a world and life you've grown accustom and ultimately bored with. So shake up the routine a little. Do something small but exciting and sustainable that you might not initially do (maybe something outside of fashion or your usual comforts) and take it from there. Adding a bit of variety in your day-to-day activity is a good way to 'shake things up' and does wonders some times.

Also, since SA doesn't much in the way of international travel for the average jo, then rather than wish for rome and milan try the other side of the country, or even a close neighbouring place you might find cool. I can honestly say from my little experiences that i've found amazing fulfillment and build great relationships with people in areas we never really think about. Places like Namib, Zim, Moz, Malawi, are really low-key on the travel-radar, but offer amazing getaways from a routine life and surprising opportunities. Stretch your toes a bit and take a walk down the less-known side of life, you might be thrilled at what you find along the way icon_smile.gif

I reckon you have a roof to sleep under and food on your table , this is a good beginning ..
We all want more , we all get tired of the job we have at times , life is a creation , we make our life for ourselves and the people we care , with everyday passing our life stays the same of takes another direction , never forget we are are the wheel , we steer our life toward what we want . Sometimes we reach our destination easily , sometimes we do not , and have to work a lot more to reach it ... My mother always said ," where there is a will , there is a way " !!

Very good advice, gentlemen! And, very compassionate, too! That is important. People need to feel cared about and affirmed, and not in a pandering way. You all said it beautifully! He can do it, and perhaps the focus on a larger goal is too much, at this time. Focus on the achievable and take it from there. But, don't stop dreaming and doing what you can!

This is one of the things I like about RJ, there are real people here and really nice people, too. Not just pretty faces and sex slaves *(not discounting the attraction and the action, when done right)! Thank you all for being such beautiful souls as well as beautiful faces! icon_smile.gif

Other guys have already told you to claim responsibility for your life. It's true.
But I will also support your desire to live away from your homeland.
Living in a new culture could be a great move for you.
    Make it happen.

Isn't that kind of like saying "but all I want to do is be a professional soccer player"? I was under the impression that the fashion industry is a bit of a niche industry, unless you want to work in a sweat shop sewing pieces together.
