Once again, the Trump Campaign insults the public's intelligence and argues that using the Trump Foundation's assets to settle lawsuits filed against Trump's business entities and/or to advertise Trump's businesses is proper (see http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/20/politics/washington-post-trump-foundation-report/index.html).

    Let's revisit:

o From 2007, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club faced $120,000 in unpaid fines from the town of Palm Beach, Fla., resulting from a dispute over the height of a flagpole. In a settlement, Palm Beach agreed to waive those fines — if Trump’s club made a $100,000 donation to a specific charity for veterans. Instead, Trump sent a check from the Donald J. Trump Foundation. DEFENDANT: Mar-a-Lago, PAYOR: Trump Foundation.

o One of Trump’s golf courses in New York agreed to settle a lawsuit by making a donation to the plaintiff’s chosen charity. A $158,000 donation was made by the Trump Foundation. DEFENDANT: Trump golf course, PAYOR: Trump Foundation.

o In 2013, Trump used $5,000 from the foundation to buy advertisements touting his chain of hotels in programs for three events organized by a D.C. preservation group. And in 2014, Trump spent $10,000 of the foundation’s money on a portrait of himself bought at a charity fundraiser. BENEFICIARY: Trump's businesses, PAYOR: Trump Foundation.

You don't need to have gone to college to understand what's going on here: the Trump Foundation, a tax-exempt charitable organization, is being used improperly by Trump as a bank account to support Trump's for-profit businesses. Think about this: if the Trump Foundation's tax records, which are required to be made PUBLICLY available for inspection, show manifest fraud, shouldn't we be suspicious of Trump's PRIVATE tax records? This clearly demonstrates the need for Trump to release his tax returns. REMEMBER Donald's personal mantra: IF YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH IT, WHY NOT? Remember that, alt-right Trump supporters.

I've worked very closely with 4 tax exempt not-for-profit organizations here in Florida. In fact, my husband co-founded 2 of them.

Those of us associated with them all know there are strict laws about how the money can be used. It's a great concept in the IRS code, and encourages people to donate to the charity so they can claim a tax deduction. We have lawyer-approved letters we provide to donors, stating the value of their donation (sometimes a market value estimation, if the item is a "gift-in-kind" rather than cash), and also a copy of the original IRS document confirming our tax-free status. These are filed with the donor's tax returns.

There's no way Trump, or his legal teams, whether corporate or with the foundation, wouldn't know his actions are IRS violations. He wrongly accuses Hillary Clinton of being "crooked" to deflect attention from himself, and to raise a smokescreen about his own genuinely illegal dealings in many areas, not just with his foundation. This guy doesn't have an honest bone in him.

But Trump is still the safer, saner Presidential candidate. How about all the criminal wrongdoing in the glorified money laundering operation known as the Clinton Foundation.

Shall we talk about the Trump Foundation illegally paying-off Trump's business debts and lawsuits? And then we can move onto Trump University, and the thousands defrauded with that scam. Do you really want to open these Trump cans of worms, and others, also?

"You can only imagine how -many people- often his children have asked Mr. Trump for his time and his resources and his connections and his money privately, and he does that and he doesn't have cameras in there, it doesn't go through foundations,"
