Why are steroids hated on so much....because some guys abuse them and suffer the appropriate consequences....maybe....truth be told steroids can be used in a safe and effective manner and can truly enhance your life with minimal bad side effects...There are lot of guys on this site that use steroids and I say good for them :> just realize people you still have to put in the hard work steroids are no magic pill.....just wish more people would admit to using steroids...its not that bad......I've tried test cyp and will probably be on it for the rest of my life...very low doses 100 mg/ week so I will not really see any bodybuilding advantages but I can say it has really helped me to feel normal as I had suffered from low testoterone......so I just hate how there is such a hate on steroid usage THERE ARE LEGIT USES FOR STEROIDS...Make them legal so a person that does decide to use can not fear going for regular doctor check ups to monitor blood work and stay healthy RATHER than having to sneak around and do it all in secrecy.....LEGALIZE STEROIDS........

I took prescribed steroids under medical supervision to control asthma in my 20's and 30's and started suffering the permanent long term side effects in my 40's, 10 years after I stopped taking them.

Duh, what about all of the many long term side effects even at prescribed dosages?
What if you need emergency surgery?

Uhm...you were on *catabolic* steroid compounds....he's talking about *anabolic* compounds...not quite the same thing. It's a big family - and some members have totally opposite effects to some of the other members icon_razz.gif

Hate much? They are a compound much like many others, with fewer side effects and more benefits than a good majority of even non-prescription drugs.
(Chemist here....you'd be surprised at the side effects of commonly used medications)

I have a problem with my testicles and they didnt produce enough testosterone, hence feeling suicidal all the time. Yes I use a cycle illegally and my moods are better and the gains yes in muscle awesome but the side effects are there but they are managed. To all of you who hides their use,may your balls fall off. People are cunts but all to their own.

My observation of guys I know that take them is negative. Guys with plenty of experience like Arnold say don't take them. I know a sports physiologist that says don't take them . There are plenty of natural ways to get your T up . It always gets down to falling for the scam that someone else is going to fix your life for you.

ehko...hate much??? YOU ARE obviously very misinformed and have fallen victim to all the mainstream media and negative publicity about steroids or maybe you have abused them yourself and are now suffering consequences....Steroids used safely are safer than smoking cigarettes, drinking, party drugs and the list goes on. I don't do any of that other shit but yes I do my testosterone and I'm monitored by a medical doctor and I've never had a problem...the only side effects for me have been GOOD....increased libido, a little more zest in life, I'm not tired all the time, better moods just to name a few...I feel normal again after having suffered low t for a while...Also just a side note my dose is quite small only 100mg/week so I'm not going to get massively huge...hope to gain a bit of muscle though...Steroids or not those big guys that you like to call "ROID MONKEYS" have to work their ass off to get a body like that...strict nutrition, insane workouts and dedication so have a little respect for these guys......

What do you think the Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympic contests were, brother? Orange juice? Nearly ALL of them were on juice, and I worked out with some of them back then.
What's ironic is that steroids were part of the AIDS cocktail starting in 1996, and all of a sudden, HIV+ guys were going from having the 'wasting syndrome' look to having overdeveloped muscles. It was striking to watch the change.

Steroids can help save lives, but it may be some times (as with cigarettes) before we see the long-term effects (I mean besides those that killed Lyle Alzado and others). But for far too many guys, it's just an ego boost. They think being 'the big guy' makes them better. It's akin to Donald Trump's attitude - all based on bluster and false security (insecurity actually). And, as usually happens in a closed societal hierarchy, in order for some to feel good about themselves, they must malign others. Hence, they create the hierarchy of 'date within your own attractiveness level.' In olden days (and not that far in the past, there was the expression, "NOCD", which means, "not our class, dear." it used to mean the divide between the rich and the poor, but in gay culture, it now means, 'I'm hot, you're not.' So clearly the 'roids have gone to their brains (and not in a good way). When 18" arms are considered superior to a kind heard, the culture is unquestionably fucked up.

So, use it if you want to, but unless you're old enough (over 50), you probably don't have very much knowledge (or wisdom) about the history of their usage in bodybuilding, and then in track and then in baseball and football. None of the stories end well.

Like all compounds, they can be *abused* as well as *used*. However, the mainstream media, just like they always do, are really good and pushing misinformation on things. Lyle Alzado's brain cancer has a nearly 0% correlation to steroid compounds - it made a nice scary boogeyman story to sell by the DEA, but medically, nearly no correlation at all. Hmm....you don't suppose cells could start to grow wild when their internal structure gets damaged over and over by head impacts as you might get in ...say....football?

Even the doctor responsible for having steroids on the DEA schedules can't give a better reason for them to be there than "I think they should be there" as the deaths, illness, damage that they have been screaming about for years just doesn't happen, and in those rare cases where who was using them died of something uncommon, there has almost always been other issues involved, other drugs, family medical conditions, or undiagnosed problems. Even the American Medical Association things that having them as Schedule IV drugs is stupid.

There is zip, nothing, nada wrong with Testosterone so long as it is administered and monitored by a physician that knows what he's doing and the range he takes your test to is normal for your age. Bio-identical is best. All the scare tactics about Steroids revolve around guys that take massive doses to get major jacked by injecting themselves with something they got from some guy who knows some guy. And teenagers pushing their bodies too far while still growing. But even then, I've been around gyms long enough to know that the scare stories are overblown. Roid rage is a myth though some of the massive body builders can be jerks. (So can some guys here.) Side effects are issues with the liver but the incidence is no greater than statins and no problem if you simply check your liver function semi-annually. The administration of test can cause a rapid up-rise in estrogen but that can easily be countered with an estrogen suppressant like Arimidex.

Boy, there's a lot of misinformation out there.

Sadly, that's *exactly* my point. As a chemist I'm sad to see a family of compounds are are among the *safest* to use (provided you aren't stupid) being demonized by so-called experts who know nothing about them. If you're an asshole, you'll be a stronger asshole on steroids, but don't blame the steroids for you being the asshole. As for the various other risks, all can be mediated, and in fact some of the risks are lower when using them than if you *weren't* due to the associated lifestyle changes that frequently go along with their use.

well if you actually took the time to read my post you would see that I'm only taking 100 mg/week of testosterone which will yield basically no bodybuilding benefits...I don't claim to be a bodybuilder just a guy that hasn't been in the best of shape but is now taking a serious interest in getting healthy and fit. I will be the first to admit that I have a long way to go before I'm happy with my fitness level. icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif The important thing is I'm trying and I recently found an awesome trainer who has put me on a strict diet and is pushing me hard in the weight room so we will see what happensicon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif.....SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION NO AT THIS POINT IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE I TAKE STEROIDS BECAUSE ESSENTIALLY I DON'T I supplement with testosterone to bring my levels to where they should be naturally...THANKS FOR YOU INPUT THOUGH :>

There's no reason any drug should be illegal. The 3 most deadly drugs, opiods, alcohol and nicotine are legal. If you can't do whatever you want with your own body, how can you claim to be free?

trby1 said.just wish more people would admit to using steroids...its not that bad......

That will never happen. People will always lie about whether or not they take steroids because of all the misunderstanding and poor education out there about anabolics. Unfortunately, AAS went through a smear campaign, and since they're a controlled substance, people who use them feel like they can't come clean because of legal consequences.

People don't even understand how steroids work. They think you just take a magic pill or a magic injection and BOOM you're competative bodybuilder size. They don't understand that all steroids are is testosterone, and all testosterone does is add to your natural testosterone levels, and if raised high enough, they reduce recovery time between workouts.

All steroids do is enable you to workout HARDER and MORE. It's not a short cut, it's just opening the door to work HARDER.

Ekho saidif ur taking steroids I hope ur balls fall off

That is not a known side effect.

I could say "if you smoke I hope you get lung cancer" which would be a more realistic expectation.

Alpha13 saidGuys with plenty of experience like Arnold say don't take them. I know a sports physiologist that says don't take them .

Uh, you realize Arnold is definitely still doing anabolic steroids, right?

Alpha13 said There are plenty of natural ways to get your T up .

Not to any truly useful level. Certainly not high enough to become a competitive bodybuilder.

The evolution of the public percetion of testosterone (aka steroids) among the American public and politicos is best chronicled in the documentary "BIgger, Stronger, Faster. In reality, the American Congress made it a controlled substance Class 3 in 1990 in spite of protests brom the AMA, FDA and DEA (yes, the DEA opposed it). The biggest problem was that medically no studies had been done on high dose testosterone and everything was hearsay. The danger part came mainly form former football great Lyle Alzedo attributing his brain cancer to use of testosterone during the 1970's, a statement he later recanted.

The politicians continued to use "steroids" as a politcal stumping point for protecting little Johnny and passed the law anyway. In 1996, the first major study of short tem, high dose testosterone use appeared in the New England Journal of Medicine, and like many to follow, soundly silenced the governmet position that it was dangerous. When they started putting testosterone into AIDS patients in the 1990's and their health improved rather than deteriorating further (see the dry, but informative "Built To Survive"), this was yet another nail in the government's "it's dangerous" coffin. So like any good politician, they changed the stance to "it's cheating," which is the position that survives mainly today.

Now, all that said, you can use high dose test in the short term and make some solid gains. But, like everything else, there is a science to it and if you do not do your research on things like doses and post cycle medications (like estrogen blockers like anastrazole or tamoxifen) you can all go very wrong for you. This apporach can beef you up, but you still have to work hard, if not harder than normal, and, once off, you lose some of your gains but those come back and more fairly easily if you give it some time. In the wrong hands without proper knowledge or need (I'm looking at you 20 year old college guy range) testosterone use can be a disaster. In the right hands and with the right timing it can boost your growth (and you overall health) to a new level.

[And those flamers who may challenge this (and probably without any real research as is the case with nearly all anti-test people I encounter), when you have had medicinal chemistry and carry an advanced medical degree, then you can come talk to me.]

You've confused cortico steroids with anabolic steroids. You'll want to study up on what a steroid is.
