During last night's debate, Trump claimed, without any substantiation, "Many of her friends took bigger deductions. Warren Buffett took a massive deduction." Today Buffett said that in 2015, he reported an adjusted gross income of $11.6 million and took close to $5.5 million in total deductions. The majority of those (nearly $3.5 million) reflected allowable charitable contributions. He went on to say that he paid nearly $1.9 million in federal income taxes last year. That gives him an effective federal income tax rate of about 16%. More importantly, the charitable deductions Buffett took in 2015 don't reflect the half of what he gave to charity last year. "The total charitable contributions I made during the year were $2,858,057,970, of which more than $2.85 billion were not taken as deductions and never will be. Tax law properly limits charitable deductions." Buffett added, "I have paid federal income tax every year since 1944, when I was 13."

Meanwhile, Trump continues to decline to release his tax returns, claiming that they're under audit. The IRS has already publicly stated that no law precludes anyone from releasing his/her tax returns while under audit. Indeed, Buffett himself is under audit, but he has previously committed to releasing his tax returns if Trump would release his.

Warren Buffet has as various times been rated by Forbes as the richest person on Earth (excluding reclusive oil sheiks with indeterminate wealth). Buffet has real money, puts Trump's unproven, bragging claims about himself to shame.

Plus Buffet pays taxes, always has. And wants the rich to pay more. Whereas Trump wants the rich to pay less, and the burden be shifted to the middle class. And Buffet, sometimes in concert with Bill Gates, has given away to charitable causes more money than Donald Trump more than likely even has, in spite of The Donald's boastful claims.

Attacking Warren Buffet is a very stupid tactic. But when has Trump ever acted with intelligence in the public eye? It's costing him now in this election campaign.

Meh, i doubt it's costing him much.

Anyone smart enough to actually know who Warren Buffet is, is not dumb enough to support Trump.

Anyone supporting Trump because he's some business genius is too stupid to realize he's not a business genius and isn't dealing in facts. Warren Buffet and Mark Cuban and Trump's tax returns and whatever else could hit people over the head with a hammer and as long as Trump wears nice suits and gets out of a private jet, morons will be in awe of him.

Buffet has given 33 billion dollars to charity. That's probably 33 times more money than Trump has ever had.
