NYT: A day after Mr. Trump defended himself at the second presidential debate for making vulgar comments about women, amid a wave of polls showing an increasing lead for Hillary Clinton, thousands of Trump supporters turned out with undimmed fervor for the Republican nominee and optimism about his electoral prospects.

They reiterated Mr. Trump’s claim that national polls showing him behind by double digits were “rigged” and that he was heading to victory in November.

His supporters routinely pointed, as the nominee did, to the huge crowds still flocking to see him as evidence that his campaign remains strong.

Mr. Trump was in high spirits on Monday night in northeastern Pennsylvania, in the heart of a largely white, blue-collar region that he has visited regularly, running a campaign sustained by a visceral feel for his audience while ignoring abstractions like data and research.

“I think the state of Pennsylvania, we’re going to win so big,” he said. A New York Times polling average shows Mrs. Clinton 7.2 percentage points ahead in the state.

As he spoke, Katie Packer, a strategist for Mitt Romney in 2012, posted a photograph on Twitter of 30,000 people at an Ohio rally four years ago a week before Mr. Romney’s defeat. “None of the Trump crowds so far in the general election surpass what we regularly had in ’12,” Ms. Packer wrote. “They are so naïve.”

An article suggesting Trump's followers are at least as delusional as he is. And some perhaps dangerous, incited by Trump's inflammatory rhetoric. Hillary will win, but then what will the Trumpists do?

Win or lose, this guy is tearing our political fabric apart.

Democracy is a fragile proposition to begin with. It fails in a lot of places around the world. You gotta work hard to make it work. Or else it collapses into some form of strongman tyranny, as we've seen happen in Russia, despite our hopeful expectations there.

Our own Benjamin Franklin, who was the unsung genius behind the creation of the United States, is reported to have replied, when questioned by a bystander as colonial delegates were exiting their convention to create this country, just what these men had now given them in place of the British monarchy:

"A Republic, if you can keep it" was his famous reply, if true. A democratic representative republic being almost unknown in the world at that time. More revolutionary politically than the War of Independence against the British.

It's still our job as Americans to keep this Republic going as Franklin challenged us, and "against all enemies, foreign and domestic", including insane megalomaniacs like Trump. That's the military oath I took myself, and issued countless times to others.

I took those words to heart, they weren't some meaningless mumbo-jumbo I had soldiers recite as part of a military reenlistment ceremony, that I conducted many times.

And words that I spoke myself when I first enlisted, and then again when I took my Officer's Commission. That still govern my actions as a US citizen to this day.

I will remain "against all enemies, foreign and domestic" to the US, until the end of my days. That will never change, my oath did not expire when I took off my military uniform for the last time, even if some you choose to call me a traitorous "Libtard".

The British always know us Americans better than we know ourselves. They said that Americans will always do the right thing ... after we have tried everything else. ~ Winston Churchill

Here's a deranged Trump fan who wants a "revolution" if Trump doesn't win in November. She claims she's on social media 24x7 nonstop.

    -battered women syndrome-
    http://family.findlaw.com/domestic-violence/battered-women-s-syndrome.html

Sometimes mental or verbal abuse turns out to be worse than the physical. Those women who still support Trump even after #pussygate are def of the 'old school' mind set that many women stay in abusive relationships 'with their man', they believe their role in the relationship is not of equal but of subservient (I assume stemming mostly from religious belief).

While it still hold true, women equate sex with love, men can separate between the two, the act of and the feeling of. Its possible that women Trump supporters "believe" in the subservient, non womens lib, traditional role (barefoot, pregnant-stay at home mothers-make dinner...basically, leave it to beaver, June Cleaver like stepford).

#Pussygate doesn't bother them because they are probably the kind of women who are used to "their man" speaking to or around them in this manner. Its the true "feminist", "women's lib", "liberal", "independent" women that is most disgusted by Trump and his "I can do anything to women" comments. All in all, I think what we are witnessing among men and women, still a conservative vs liberal ideology and which one will carry the US into the future

I see this election as accomplishing two main tasks, out of which the worst will defeat itself.

It is showing us who are the scum. Trump is a gutter glitter bomb sticking to the worst of the Republicans. This is the scum rising to the surface of the GOP cesspool. This is their 15 minutes of fame. This is America airing its dirty laundry.

But alongside that, this will also be America telling Trump and his kind to GO FUCK YOUSELF. And that's where America really shines. Not for a 15 minute spot on a reality TV program, but what's systemic to America, what runs through our veins, the tolerance and the love of America. This will prove our superiority over European culture, over Asian culture, over African culture, over Islamic culture, over Latino culture, over all the cultures we have welcomed and incorporated into our own being.

We are the Borg; resistance is futile.

    May we rise.

in a way it will, it will be much worse when he is president. We will forget all about the election very quickly.
