We Do Not Want You to Have All the Facts. We Do Not Want You to Comply with Facts. We fault conspiracy theories while we conspire.

We have all been quite content
to demean government
drop civics [the rights and duties of citizenship]
and in general
conspire to produce an unaware and compliant citizenry.

RESULT:
The unawareness remains strong
but compliance is obviously fading rapidly.

This problem
demands some serious, serious thinking
and not just poll-driven, demographically-inspired messaging (still from a position of manipulating the citizenry).

- Bill Clinton's former National Endowment of the Arts Chairman (NEA) , Bill Ivey, trustee of the Center for American Progress to John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign manager, March 13, 2016

Snopes:

Ivey was actually stating the opposite: a lack of awareness and a tendency toward compliance on the part of the citizenry was the result of the conflation of entertainment and the electoral process.

Response:

We have demeaned government. We have dropped appealing to the rights of citizenship. We have, with broad strokes [generally] conspired to produce an unaware citizenry after dropping our obligation to set and demand the tone of noble citizenship.

That is what the email says.

Snopes is in error.
