Potentially good news. But not a routine cure yet, rather an accidental discovery that may provide direction for future HIV research. Still, the real cure comes closer and closer...

This is an EXTREME treatment. Notice that fully 1/3 DIE from the procedure. They KILL your immune system via drugs and RADIATION and they jump start you and hope for the best.

It's not really an accidental discovery, but, the outgrowth of working with stem cells. Stem cell research may well offer up solutions for a variety of chronic illness such as HIV, diabetes, and the like.

This does not mean, for a minute, that a cure is coming anytime soon, nor that irresponsible sexual practice is o.k., because a cure is on the horizon.

    HIV is an epidemic.
    HIV is preventable.
    HIV is a retro-virus.

You're still responsible for your personal health risks.

    This really isn't new news.

Yeah, this story has been out for a while. It's just now getting attention probably because so many people didn't really believe it.

It's similar to an experimental procedure they're using for type 1 diabetes: they irradiate you and load you up with chemicals to kill your immune system, introduce beta cells to your pancreas from cultured stem cells, then keep you in a bubble for the next few months to a year while your immune system rebuilds and hope to God you don't die in the process.
