A year ago in SoCal, 15-year old Lawrence King was shot to death in his school. His murderer, 14-year old Brandon McInerney, has had his trial postponed and justice has yet to be served.

Now, Lawrence King's parents are suing for wrongful death Casa Pacifica (the shelter Brandon was living in at the time of his murder), Ventura County Rainbow Coalition, and the school. Why? Because these organizations "failed to urge the effeminate teen to tone down flamboyant behavior."

Some parents do not deserve the children they are blessed with.

That is too bizarre for words. And you are right some people don't appreciate the kids they have.

D'oh! I better stop being less visibly Jewish before someone shoots me.

If only women didn't dress pretty and wear lipstick... we would have no rapes.

If only our African American friends could stop looking black... racism would disappear forever.

See? It's all their - the victims' - fault!

Bottom-feeding attorneys always urge their clients to sue the person or entity with the deepest pockets. The murderer and his family in this case are probably poor pickings, so the attorneys go for the next richest, however irrational the degree of liability may be.

And who knows, juries have made stupider decisions. Get the right mix of jurors, who think being gay is wrong to begin with, and they've got a winning case.

I can not believe it has already been a year. I remember when the story first broke.

I can't decide what would have a more positive impact on the direct future of the USA...

    1. Adopting a "Loser Pays" legal system.
    2. enacting the "Fair Tax."
    3. Or the disbanding of he NEA.

Actually, the Fair Tax was my red flag. Yikes, righty. Way to stay on topic.

They are suing whoever has the deepest pockets.

The only reason I can think of now is they are still dealing with loss and trying to shift the blame around.

But damn... if that's what Lawrence King had to deal with when he was with his parents...

Here was a commercial I posted a while back on this .. it's tragic that some people want to make people proposing tolerance the guilty party as opposed to the people that just continue to perpetuate anti-gay propaganda ..

Here is an interesting blog on the topic. It brings up the good question of why King was in a shelter for the abused .. abusive parents?
Blog about lawsuitLarry was pulled out of his parents' home because of child abuse (his father denies it), so I'm wondering where his father's place to talk is.

Here is another article about the original event ..
http://articles.latimes.com/2008/mar/08/local/me-oxnard8Larry had searched elsewhere for a safe harbor. After he landed at Casa Pacifica, he joined a youth group sponsored by the nonprofit Ventura County Rainbow Alliance, which offers social services to the gay community.

Alliance Executive Director Jay Smith would not reveal what Larry had talked about during the group’s Friday night meetings. But Smith said that no teenager should have to wake up in a shelter knowing the school day ahead would bring a fresh heap of rejection and scorn. “Not having a mom or dad to run to… . I can’t imagine what that is like,” he said. “His life was tough.”

    UPDATE:
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2010/08/jurors-in-case-involving-fatal-shooting-of-gay-teenager-will-be-drawn-from-santa-barbara-county.html

    Digest:
"McInerney is being tried as an adult on a first-degree murder charge with a hate crime enhancement and could face 53 years to life if convicted."

How can he not be convicted with so many eyewitnesses?
