This report shows what many of us already suspected, which is that a majority of Gay Men going on Prep will do so with intention to BB. I should also point out that the role out of the medication through large public funded subsidized trials to HIV treatment groups, community org. and direct government rebates which is where the free or very cheap access is coming from in the large Gay Population centers, are starting/continuing to demand monitoring of statistics relating to Prep users and their exposure to Sexually transmitted diseases other than HIV. Prep is still a great thing for the heavily at risk population who currently have little/no HIV protection, but it could be creating a large population of Gay Men at high risk of getting STI and given Prep is not 100%, increased HIV risk due to apathy of real risk

To play devil's advocate, I'm surprised they needed a study; though whore is a rather debasing term.

The study didn't make the whore comment, I was merely borrowing the term which was part of the self-labeling of Prep users in the early days of it's use. As for not needing a study, I would say it's good to have proof of how behavioral changes assumed to have taken place by most people but denied by the Prep advocate lobby out in the open. The truth is now out there about how once again an opportunity for great and lasting change got hijacked by those who have another agenda. It is a shame as they are a minority, unfortunately a very vocal and loud minority

Men just want to have sex - and now, once again they can, without much fear.

I once asked here if ( http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/4256826 ) if your behavior would change if there were no STIs.

If medicine managed to finally prevent and cure all STIs with wonder drugs, most people would become more promiscuous. Moreover, those who didn't join the party would be seen in the same light as those who have food restrictions due to religious reasons.

Change that from "most people" to "most men" and I'd agree. Women still have to worry about getting pregnant, and even if they're using birth control, women aren't as promiscuous as men. When both parties are men, as with gay men, then things get wild.

Poor old rugger bugger you have a major issue with what other people do with their bodies.
Your obsession doesn't however give you license to misrepresent study findings.

One of the major prerequisites for going onto expanded access trials is being assessed as being at 'high risk' that is reporting a history of multiple sexual partners, recent STI, or reported condomless anal intercourse.
So the results from these studies are comparing people with 'at risk' histories with people who don't have these histories. It's comparing apples to oranges.

So I applaud these men for taking control of infection risk for themselves and their partners.

It's not apples and oranges, the study sought out high risk participants for both the prep and non-prep study groups. The "mind your own business" angle is valid if it's pure capitalism and everyone is 100% liable for their own choices (no public healthcare, all roads rolled, no taxes). But it's not the case so there's a thing called social responsibility. If you are annoyed by fat gluttons costing taxpayers then the same applies to gays who "need" to sleep with 100 times more sex partners than normal people

I am not disagreeing with the statement above. My point is about the fact that there is a distinct rise in Bareback anal sex. In some trials of Prep conducted throughout the many different regions & countries of the world, the interpretation of high risk criteria differs which is their rite to do. Their are health care jurisdictions where they choose to allow trial participation to people who only fit one of the criteria suggests by the manufacturers. Effectively that has led to behavior change because people who wish to engage in BB Sex are willing to lie or misrepresent questions from those health agencies who conduct the trials about their current sexual behavior which includes and increasing number of men who have a history of adequate risk reduction and some of very consistent condoms use. FYI, their are many stories about Prep which involves Apples with Oranges and they are mainly from Prep advocates overstating Prep effectiveness on it's own and understating the effectiveness of condom use.
