That's amazing. Is it me, or did he not even mention how they caught the guy?

No, they didn't. I went back and watched it again because I could not remember.

Animals are very beautiful. This squirrel is a very unique but lovable pet and evidently very protective of his home.

Some animals can be very territorial. And hostile to strange humans they don't know.

But also, the squirrel initially might have been acting friendly. But the burglar, being surprised by a squirrel indoors, freaked. And the squirrel, frightened in turn, went into attack mode.

As for how the crook got caught, criminals have a pattern of stupid behavior that makes them attract the attention of the police. Maybe speeding in their car, running a stop sign, who knows. Once pulled over, the Officer noticed the bleeding hand, as was stated, And perhaps a load of loot in the back seat. One thing leads to another.

Funny story, though. Nevertheless, I don't think I'll be bringing any squirrels into our own home.

i'd love to have a pet squirrel. i'd have a cat-door for it to come and go as it pleases. i wouldn't have him caged up.

and if he were to protect me and my valuables all the better!

A squirrel is not house broken. Would be leaving little gifts all over your home. Maybe on your kitchen counter or computer keyboard.

They also have very sharp claws, obviously meant for clinging to trees. They can't retract them like a cat can. Let them run across your wood-topped furniture and you'll have discovered a new way to get that stylish "distressed" look. Nor would squirrel claws scampering over your flat-screen TV or computer monitor do their non-glass screens any good. And for good measure, there's the ticks, fleas, and diseases they'd be bringing back inside if they went outdoors.

Squirrels are cute. But they're wild outdoor creatures, evolved for that environment. They simply are not suited for clean indoors living among humans, running loose as was allowed in that guy's house.
