The husband & I saw our GP together late this afternoon, to get our blood & lab results. As always, his were better than mine, even though he's 15 years older than me!

And his were spectacularly good. Time after time the doctors simply can't believe the results for a man his age. Once again a doctor said he's gonna live to be 120 years old. They always use that same number! This time I refrained from my usual question: "Doctor, can I have a second opinion?" which always earns me a smack.

My own blood work was a little more mixed, but still not bad. Main concern is low sodium, and the Tegretol level (medicine for my epilepsy) a little high. The latter can slow me down when elevated, might need adjusting, but I need a neurology consult for that.

But liver function for us both is great, cholesterol super (actually an improvement for me, been watching my diet even more), the blood itself great, prostate PSA is undetectable (no cancer recurrence for either of us), sugar good, no diabetes signs, none of the things seniors gotta worry about.

But honestly we do try to eat a smart diet, neither of us smoke, no recreational drugs, moderate alcohol use. We only lack for exercise, due to mobility limitations. In fact, last week I saw the orthopedic surgeon, who said my left hip is fair, back terrible, getting an MRI. But all things considered we were delighted, no bad surprises.

So tomorrow we're gonna treat ourselves to a little celebration at lunch with friends. Good for another 6 months until our next checkup. LOL!

And guys, I mention all this because if you aren't doing the same thing, the frequency of it proportional to your age and health condition, you should be. It's how you keep things from blindsiding you with stuff that may be very late in the game to correct.

Well, 2 days of celebrating are done. We love any reason. Today we had lunch at a Greek restaurant we love. I had a Greek salad, to which I had them add a surround of golden and red sliced beets. He had a grilled calamari salad. We didn't want to eat anything too unhealthy, to celebrate our good health. LOL!

Actually we didn't expect such good news on Monday. Far exceeded our best wishes. I tend to be a bit pessimistic when being "graded", and I know he was a bit anxious, too.

Now he's just glowing, still is, and I'm so happy for him. I say "Congratulations" every time I see him, and give him a kiss, just makes him beam.

But I suppose 2 days is enough. Accomplished what I wanted, his spirits are lifted. He has a tendency to get down in the dumps, as the phrase used to be. One of my jobs is to pull him out of there. And the calamari actually helped, too. Something from his Italian youth, one of his Mother's favorites.

I love Irish stews, and meat & potatoes, my comfort foods, while he loves calamari, and anything pasta. The saying "A man's heart is through his stomach" is actually a more complex truth than merely filling his belly.

Not an awful lot on my part. I have him blocked. He seeks another audience, other than me.

I thought as much - forgot about that functionality.
