A friend of mine, who began and runs the LGBT golf group in Ohio, has scheduled a golf trip to Hilton Head Island March 21 thru 28. There are about 20 LGBT golfers from Ohio, Florida and Washington, D.C. groups that will be there. While I believe him to be out of accommodations, he says he's got additional tee times, so if anyone is in the Hilton Head area or wants to make their own accommodation arrangements, we've got the tee times. If this trip is successful, he'll likely plan others in the future. To get info on the current trip or to get in direct contact for future trips, contact me and I'll pass on the info to Jeff.

Out of over 14,000 RJ'ers who list golf as one of the sports they enjoy, no one wants to play golf with us in Hilton Head! WOW! I sure thought I'd get some takers on this one! Or, at least sign up for info on future trips.

Just thought I'd report how the golf trip to Hilton Head went. It was great! As the time to go to Hilton Head approached, I started getting the same feeling I used to get when going to summer camp, school for the first day of the year, or anywhere else new where I'd have to interact with strangers for an extended period of time. "Will I like them? Will they like me? How am I going to manage with six strangers in the same house with me?"

I needn't have worried. My housemates were spectacular...and not bad to look at, either. We had a ball! The weather was incredible...40's at night and 60's creeping to the low 70's in the day. Rain was threatened, but never appeared. The golf courses were in fine shape. We played some easy courses and some verrrry difficult ones. They mixed the players around each day, so that by the end of the week, you had an opportunity to play with everyone else.

Dinner on three occasions was as a group, the rest of the week, you were on your own, so folks from Michigan, Ohio, Virginia, Florida and D.C., mixed together, made their own groups and took off to different places. I personally enjoyed really good food on four of the seven nights. I would strongly recommend Red Fish; Santa Fe; The Sage Room; Lemon Grass and Alexander's. We frequently congregated at the gay friendly bar in Hilton Head..."Two Dollar Bill's". A really friendly little place where many beers and well drinks are $2.00.

In any event, the guy that put the trip together, was as anal retentive as they come and didn't miss a trick when it came to planning. I would strongly recommend getting on his email list. Email me and I can put you in touch. This is NOT a money making venture. He does it because it's fun! I would strongly recommend planning to join them in their next trip. I know I'll be there!
