Kansas generally has its budget in reasoned order, but the state is facing a short term budget shortfall. Its happened before, generally monies are transferred from other accounts temporarily to meet payroll and other expenses.

Democratic Govenor Kathleen Sebellius asked the Republicans (who control both houses) to shift the funds. They said they would, provided she sign their budget (which she hasn't even seen yet). Meanwhile state employees, (including one of my part time assistants) may not get paid on Friday......

    How patheitic...

this is really sad because she has done such a great job as governor and has really tried to work with both sides. how on earth are we supposed to move forward if people can't work together. this circle of manipulation needs to stop

I can't wait to see what drama will occur in my state of Louisiana with Governor Jindal who's trying to figure out how to keep the Saints and Hornets in New Orleans without raising taxes. The people will not tolerate seeing two pro sports teams disappear.

Well apparently she wont have to deal with this sh*t for too long. According to todays NY Times, she is in top position to become Health & Human Services Secretary in Obama administration (as long as she has timely paid all her taxes). Congrats Kathleen!
