Is it snowing where you are yet? I decided I might go to wherever the first snowfall is in the country this year. Weird thing to do I know, but I just thought it'd be fun...

It has been snowing at higher elevations off and on for weeks now. Yesterday, the clouds stayed high and I could see that both Mt.Hood and Mt. Adams are completely white now - no rocks showing through at all.

We have had two days of record-breaking heat this week. I love snow, but I also love autumn, and we better not get any frigging snow here for at least a month. Or two.

I've never gone skiing or snowboarding - but then, look where I live... though it has snowed here from time to time:

Our local news is reporting that one of the resorts is opening this week(end)--I think it might have been Arapahoe Basin--some real snow, a lot of manufactured.
    Yeah Colorado!

I've got friends who relocated to Phoenix a few years ago. We went and visited them last year around this time. We took a few days and went up to Sedona, that was just gorgeous.

it's much more common to get snow in Sedona. It is a beautiful area. Had you been to Flagstaff? That's where Snowbowl is

We took a tour up to the Grand Canyon from Sedona and drove through Flagstaff, but we didn't get to spend much time there.

We did one of the Pink Jeep tours in Sedona, and on the way back to Phoenix we went over to Jerome. That was pretty cool. On the way up to Sedona, we swung over to Montezuma's Castle.

Mt. Lassen has a good coating, and is looming ominously to remind us winter is fast approaching, however the cam's on Mt Shasta show the lodge is still completely dry. :-(

The webcams show things looking a little slushy at Timberline lodge
    http://www.timberlinelodge.com/ski_ride/conditions.php#

but the Palmer Glacier lifts are open all year round. In fact, they were advertising snowboard races in July.

BTW: I recently tested the water at their warming huts, and it's OK to drink for the season!

We have had some weak storms come through Calif. in the last few weeks--we went hiking in the Eastern Sierra last weekend, check the snow coverage here:

We haven't had snow in Edmonton yet. In fact, the forecast looks quite nice for the next week or two. Usually the weather tanks around Halloween. Last year we had the snowiest November on record and it stayed on the ground well into April. Six months of snow is enough to make you sick of it.

It's been snowing mildly in the higher elevations around here, but not in the valley as of yet. Of course, the valley rarely gets snow, but even the mountains around Boise haven't quite gotten snow yet.

I would love just a half-inch of snow in Florida... if only for a day or two. EVERYTHING would shut down. I could use the days off work to relax.

No snow here in Chicago since we just had 90-degree weather on Sunday and Monday, but it's definitely cooler now.

Does anyone remember when the first major snowfall of the year was on or around Thanksgiving and that you could bank on it?
