I have heard Fort Lauderdale is a big gay area... but everytime I go I end up sitting on the couch at my sister's place a lot cause they don't go out much, and I am not out with them.

But I just booked some tickets out there and am curious what is there to do this time when I am out.

    Any suggestions?

Email me directly. If I can't make your Fort Lauderdale experience memorable, no one can. Don't worry, I have no private agenda; I'm in a monogamous relationship with a partner, with no interest in hitting on some guy. Let's chat...

You'll find a gaggle of gays sunning themselves on the Sebastian Street beach. Pick up the local gay rag for club listings (can't remember what it's called).

I was there last on NYE Dec 2007/Jan 2008 and think a lot of places have come and gone since even then (Coliseum, Wednesday nights at the Voodoo Lounge, etc.). I'm sure Georgie's Alibi in Wilton Manors is still there and still serving Long Island iced-tea pitchers on Tuesdays.

Aside of the gay hot spots, I recommend taking the water taxi for a tour of the canals and intercoastal waterway. If you're looking for a great restaurant, try the 15th Street Fisheries.

    Have a great time.

The Ramrod, within walking distance of me, can be fun if you bring your leathers. But it's mostly old, fat bears. For some younger eye candy in leather (and less), try Steel/Jackhammer.

There really is a Mark of Mark's List, for keeping tabs on the South Florida gay scene. A little difficult to navigate, but fairly complete and up to date.

Awesome... we'll see if I can get away from the family much and check things out around there.

I second what Red Vespa wrote.
I am taking 20 guys to Ft Lauderdale at the tail end of March from Philly.
His suggestions were great, especially the website link.

Have fun on your trip! I can't wait for mine.

Where in FTL? Email me, maybe we can all meet. And as with JaseinOC, if you need any tips or help with your visit, let me know.

I just spent a week there and could have picked the frozen concentrate off the trees there. Anything but warm. 3 pairs of shorts that never even made it out of my suitcase! 3000 miles for that? Aghhhhhhhh. I did go to Wilton Manor Saturday night for dinner and cocktails. I was a little bummed. The ocean wind was brutal.

Yeah, sorry, we had a cold spell here recently. And we're a bit below normal temps again, We haven't had the house AC on since Christmas week, not a single day in all of January, and none in February.

Forgot to ask, what place? Did you like it?

If this very last Saturday we were having dinner in Fort Lauderdale, and the Saturday before was that Family Day I wrote a thread about here. But maybe next time we can meet for drinks or something, on us.

Go to hotspotsmagazine, com it's one of the bar rags down here. And you have to go to Sebastian Beach. Everything you will need is right in Wilton Manors. You'll have a great time. icon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gificon_cool.gif

    JaseinOC & RPMSoccer:

I read about your upcoming Ft. Lauderdale trips, and wanted to say Hi! Although Red Vespa seems to be our one man Chamber of Commerce (and he's very good at it!), I run the local Gay Golf Group. If any of you want to play with our group, I can arrange it. Just let me know a little in advance. We have games every Wednesday and every Sunday, sometimes on Mondays and Fridays and usually on Saturdays. Even if you don't take me up on the golf offer, have a great time here.
